Dear Readers,
As we all know, J.K Rowling has shown herself as a big transphobe. I'm ashamed to have called her my favourite author at one point. As a fanfic author in the Harry Potter community, it is my responsibility to disclose my thoughts on this matter.
Harry Potter was and is a refuge to so many people. Including me. I still love the world. In the light of recent events, I no longer will let the Harry Potter franchise profit from me in anyway. I won't buy any merch, books or publicly endorse it. However, I'll be continuing with the fanfic as it is free and Rowling doesn't profit from it. Moreover, it is my interpretation of the Harry Potter universe and it reflects my values and not Rowling's. I'll make it a safe space and a refuge for those Harry Potter fans who are also disgusted and feel unsafe because of Rowling's actions.
I condemn Rowling's actions and stand with the transgender community because, her words are disgusting and thoughtless. If you're transgender, know that I love you and support you in your journey. It's hard and it is more with people like Rowling. Nevertheless, you aren't alone in this.
