Her hand was aching from holding out her wand. The people around her did not mind. They leered as she shifted her arm in discomfort. They have not really come around to liking her this entire summer.

This was her last Transfiguration magic course for the summer. Her Charms course had finished the day before. She was grateful as her magic skills felt drained. She just wanted to relax for the rest of the holidays.

The assholes in her class abhorred her. They were all in their early twenties, training to be aurors and cursebreakers. As she the only sixteen-year-old, her presence was unwanted. She still persisted, becoming a favourite of the course instructor.

During her course, a girl called Ally had been giving her dirty looks. She even threatened to make Amara's life worse. In a way, she did. The rest of the class was under Ally's influence. As a result, they threw insults and smug looks in her direction.

"That's all for today. Your certificates will be sent by owls. I hope you enjoyed learning as I enjoyed teaching you all. I hope all of you become more skilled in your magic," smiled the instructor.

He was a rather tall man with a lean frame. He had a bald head just like Amara's father. He smiled warmly at the class. "Clap for yourselves. You guys strived through this class," he exclaimed.

The class awkwardly clapped their hands. The instructor grinned in satisfaction. He packed up his papers and stationery. "Now take care. Don't be drunk and magic. Except for you Amara. Wait till you graduate."

The class laughed.

Amara forced a diplomatic smile. Truth be told, she was pissed. She didn't like people poking fun at her age. She wanted to be amongst people her age. At least, she would be meeting one of her friends after being stuck in this hell hole.

"Bye now."

The class packed up their things and headed out. Groups of friends chatted, hugging each other. Amara was alone. She clutched her bag handle, her insecurity making itself known. The groups apparated away. She was the only one now, except for cars driving by. Thankful, she had spotted her father's car, parked in the side of the road.

In the driver's seat was Zane. Grumpily looking forward, her sister, Madeline was sitting beside him in the passenger seat. Zane honked. "Coming," muttered Amara.

She plopped in the backseat.

"How was your last class?" Zane questioned, as he put the driving stick in reverse. The car moved back.

"Well. I'm glad it's over. The magic learning was nice. The people were just a bunch of assholes," Amara scoffed at the memory of her entire two months at the course.

Zane recoiled. "LANGUAGE, AMARA!" he bellowed. "WHY THE F-" Someone honked at him. "WOULD YOU CURSE?"

"Because you taught me to. Did you just listen to what you said now?" Amara chuckled.

Zane just shrugged. The car became silent. Amara glanced at her sister. Madeline hadn't said a single word. She was slumping in her seat. She folded her arms. Leaning forward between the front seats, she tapped on her sister's shoulder. "What's up with you Maddie?" Amara inquired, concerned.

"She wants to hang out with her boyfriend for dinner, but I told her she had to be there tonight because Emily is back from her business trip," Zane explained, casually showing the finger at the driver who had honked at him.

He speeded ahead, turning left into the intersection.

"I don't get why you're forcing me. We had many dinners. Would it really matter?" Madeline grumbled.
