Victoria's POV:

They all fallowed me to my mothers painting. "What do guys find weird about it? I mean you've never seen the phases of the moon tattooed on someone," I said. "Well we have now," Ronald said. "But what do they mean, and why on a vampire?" Othello asked. "My dad always said she got them because the moon represents powerful feminine energy." Something in my mind clicked. "Boys get back." Slowly—without touching it—I lifted and brought down this hundred thousand year old painting. "Alright I'm gonna bring it closer, Will if you see something in the back grab it with your death scythe," I said. And after five seconds Will was holding a letter. "It has the number one on it," he said. "And your fathers seal," Undertaker says. He handed it to me. The letter was written in Romanian so I had to translate.

"wisdom, intuition, birth, death, reincarnation, and a spiritual connection. One day, my little vampire, I was hunting in the woods when I encountered a creature so beautiful and deadly that I thought like mortals and hid behind a tree. A witch."
I looked at the painting. "Well that settles—" Will covered Grells mouth. "Go on."
"She sensed me and said 'all I need is the heart, the rest is yours.' I saw her again the next full moon, and she said the same thing. But when I was out in plain darkness—a new moon—I heard running and I could smell fear in that strange blood. I heard tumbling and the next thing I knew that witch was in front of me. She was wounded and I heard footsteps, I picked her up and brought her to my castle. As I healed her wounds I marveled at her beauty, long black hair, long eyelashes, and a tattoo of the phases of the moon." "Hmm, so she had this before she had you," Sacha said. "Wait there's still a bit left . . . When she woke up she wasn't frightened, she looked at me and said, 'it's you.'" I put the letter down.

"So there's been a witch inside you for a while." "Rudgar don't be rude," Sacha said. I looked at the back of the letter. One. "Looks like you're daddy is sending you on a journey around your own house to find out the truth," Undertaker said.
"Hmm . . . and if you were my father, where would you put the second one?" I asked. He started laughing. "Hmmm . . . I know where it is," Grell said.
We went to my mom and dads wedding painting. "Oh your mother does look beautiful in red," Grell said. It was a mermaid style dress with embroidery and lace going up. There was also tule on the shoulders. "Father said he wanted her dress design to make her look like a princess becoming a queen," I said. The only thing dark in the picture was the black roses bouquet and dads suit. "Yes, only she became a countess," Undertaker said. "Ok just saying. If your mother is a witch, then why are her eyes red and she has fangs?" Rudgar said.

I looked at the letter then the picture. "Undertaker hold this." Just like last time I brought it down and Will found another letter. "It has the number two," he said.
I cracked the seal and read the letter.
"The witch had nowhere else to go, so as humble as I was, I let her stay. I knew she wouldn't do anything to me or my servants, because somehow inside us, we both felt this spiritual connection. When we both realized we loved each other, the vampire council came for a visit and forbid our love." "What is the vampire council?" Sacha asked. "An annoying council of vampires," I said. "But they're long gone. Now where was I . . . Ah, unless I turned her into a vampire . . . They would kill her." I put the paper down. "Well that's harsh," Othello said. "I'm not finished. My mother said 'do it, as long as we can be together in the end, do it' and so I did. She woke up pale and with red eyes the next night, and while she slept . . ." They all looked at me. "Well what was he doing," Ronald said.
". . . I was planning our wedding. Everything was perfect, even our honeymoon in London was perfect. Until we realized something. What if our offspring was a vampire or a witch, or both or neither." "There's an extra paper here," Undertaker said. It was in my mom's writing.

Your abilities should start to show when you're 18 or 21, or in your fathers case 118 or 121. Your friends and family close to you will help you control them.

"Well what now?" Ronald said. "I am exhausted, can't we just go back to the dinner table and figure this out sitting down," Grell said.
"No!" My shout scared even me. I put the painting back up. "Not now when we are so close. But don't worry, I think I know where the last paper is."

I had my cloak back on because not even these sleeves can keep me warm from a long line of Dracula's. "Now you all can take your time and look at my ancestors, or you can speed walk with me to the best one of all," I said. My family painting wasn't like the others—at least this one wasn't. Mom had just given birth so the bottom of the nightgown was a bit red, dad was just in his trousers and his shirt was untucked—he was freaking out during the birth—and I was asleep in a little blanket with the amulet around me. "Hehe, I think this is my favorite family portrait," Undertaker said. "Thank you, now to take it down for just a second," I said. His laugh echoed down the hall. Once it was down Will looked behind it.
"Victoria, there's nothing behind here."
"What?"everyone looked behind, Undertaker even moved his hair and looked.
"I'm sorry, Victoria, but Will is right. There's nothing behind your first family portrait," he said. I turned to his studies, if I looked in there after all this I might just have a mental breakdown. I put the portrait back up. "Come on guys, let's get back to the dining room."

"It just doesn't make sense," Othello said. "I hate to agree with the geek but I guess I have to tonight," Grell said. "Why wouldn't the last letter her father wrote be in the picture of her birth?" "Maybe because it's too obvious," Will said, moving up his spectacles. "Victoria, where else do you think it could be?" I just looked at the cup of wine thinking, the reflection of candle lights reminded me of a chandelier . . . "The ballroom," I said.

"Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the ballroom, where our count would host his finest gatherings and my best birthday." I opened the doors and it's just like I remembered it. Down ten steps of stairs is a marble floor, windows on the right, a piano covered up, black chandeliers, and all the way at the end is another family picture. "Would you look at the size of this place, and it's not even lit up," Ronald said. While they admired everything I walked to the painting, and every red curtain I passed I opened up. This one was different from the others: mom looked like a witch—but beautiful and with no hat—and dad didn't have his cape on. His hand was around her waist, hers on his heart, and I sat in front of them wearing a black dress and my dads cape. "You look adorable," Undertaker said. "Thank—"
"So it's true."
Everyone gathered around me and pointed their death scythe at the stairs.
"You've come home, Doamna mea."
That voice. I moved up front and what I saw made me drop the letters.
"O Doamne (oh my god) Aurel."
