This Was Nothing Like Back to the Future

You stood under the warm water in the shower and sighed. You couldn't remember the last time you showered properly. Sure, you would find a hot spring or a clean stream in the summer, if you were lucky, but that was it. It wasn't like you could get your hands on soap or appropriate hair products in a post-apocalyptic world.

Chuck wasn't wrong when he said you didn't look like your age. You were able to get a good look of yourself in the mirror before hopping in the shower and cringed at your reflection.

Back home, you didn't want anyone grabbing you so you hacked off a lot of your hair with the knives you'd find. Your hair was uneven and matted in certain areas while some bits were completely exposing scars from your attempts at cutting your hair. Everything was covered in dirt and mud and you had a musky odour coming from you. The downpour from earlier certainly didn't help. All and all, you looked worse than a drowned rat.

Chuck was kind enough to offer you a shower and spare bed until either the apocalypse goes into full swing, which you knew it wouldn't, or you get up on your feet. You were extremely thankful and asked if he could also help you with the mats in your hair. Chuck helped you with that just before you went into the shower and Raphael left with a promise of being back in a little bit. He said he needed to get something.

Your clothes certainly have seen better days too. They were the same ones you were wearing when you jumped onto the grenade but, like earlier, there were no signs of that happening. Your clothes were just incredibly dirty and a little torn here and there.

You shivered at the thought of the grenade and turned the water off.

Back in your world, you and your friends got into a fight with some very dangerous people that had access to military weapons. They tried to throw a grenade while your friends and you were running away but didn't take into account that you didn't think you had anything to live for at that point. You jumped on the grenade to both see your family again and to let people who could do better live.

You did a lot of things that you were not proud of before the apocalypse but after it? You did shit that made your closest friends fear you, especially after your sister's death. Now thinking about her had your blood boiling. You quickly disregarded the memory and towelled down when you heard a knock at the door.

"Hey, uh," Chuck said from the other side of the door, "Raphael's back and he-"

"I brought some new clothes for you and I do need to speak with you soon," Raphael interrupted Chuck and you wrapped the towel around you. "I also have some necessities for your hair type and your hygiene in general."

You opened the door and gave a grateful smile to Chuck and Raphael. "Thank you so much," you said as Raphael handed you the clothes, "I don't know how to make it up to either of you."

"You could help me pay rent," Chuck suggested with a chuckle.

"Deal," you nodded, holding the supplies Raphael gave you, "as soon as I get a job, my paychecks will go straight to splitting expenses."

"Just get dressed and I will let you know what I need," Raphael said as he turned away from the door. You didn't even get the chance to respond when he left the hallway.

You watched him leave, still enthralled by his wings, before turning back to Chuck. "Guess I should do what he says," you said with a small smile. "Thanks again, Chuck."

"Not a problem," Chuck said your name as he turned the same direction Raphael went. "I'm going to get some coffee, Winchesters aren't going to write about themselves. Do you want anything?"

"Just some more water will be fine," you said, thanking him once more before closing the door.

You will admit, you were pretty curious about Chuck's reasoning behind disguising himself as a prophet. It just seemed a little too obvious if he was trying to hide, a prophet would be the first person to consider in your opinion. You quickly remembered that Raphael said that God was dead to Dean and Cas and the story started to get more believable.
