A/n:sorry about the different times I post.I try my best to post on the weekends.Expect a week chapters today and tomorrow.Enjoy.Nat sat at her desk.A PB&J sandwich lay in front of her.She didn't have much of an appetite since everything that happened. It's been two years and they still haven't thought of anything.Everyone went their separate ways.
The screens in front of her showed all the faces of the lost Avengers and people who died outside of the battle.
Nat froze as Y/n's face showed up.She was smiling. She looked so happy.
Nat gulped as the guilt took over.
How could she have let this happen?
She blamed herself obviously. The fact her daughter might be gone forever was too much to bear.
She turned her head to see Steve leaning against the door. She blinked fast to hide the tears.
"Come to do your laundry?"She asked.
"Came to see a friend."Steve replied.
"Clearly your friend is fine."
"You know I saw a pod of whales coming over the bridge."Steve said.
"In the Hudson?"She asked.
"Fewer ships.Cleaner water."
She leant back in her chair."You know if your about to tell me to look on the bright side."She hesitated and looked at him."I'm about to hit you in the head with a Peanut butter sandwich."
Steve let out a small laugh. He walked forward, placing his jacket on the chair.
"Sorry.Forced a habit."
He sat in the chair across from her."You know I keep telling everyone to move on.Some do.But not us."
"If I move on,who does this?"She asked.
"Maybe it doesn't need to be done."
"Steve what day is today?"Nat asked glancing at the calendar on the wall.Steve looked over.
"It's (your birth date)."He said turning back to her.
"That's right.The (your birthday).What happens today Steve?"She asked.
Steve sighed."It's Y/n's birthday."
"That's correct.I do this job and stay here, trying to keep myself together for a chance, any chance that I could see my little girls face again.I try my best to stay calm and focus on the work but this whole situation has got me distracted.I can't do nothing Steve. She's my daughter and I let her slip away out of my own hands.Do you know how that felt?"She spoke.
"No."
Nat shook her head with a small scoff."It felt like hell."
"I understand you don't want to let go.I get that.I lost Bucky. My best friend since I was young. It hurt to see him go but sitting around grieving over him won't bring him back."Steve said."I can't sit around either.Or to distract myself but I know he would hate if I did nothing."Nat nodded at his words.
"So you get it.We're both depressed."She scoffed.Steve smiled a bit.
"Don't completely beat yourself up over it.Thanos is ruthless and was just to powerful. We didn't know what he was capable of."
"I used to have nothing."Nat began."But then Y/n was born.A complete miracle that child was.An angle sent to help me.She's the reason I'm still here. The reason I won't give up."
Steve looked around at the screens.Y/n face showed up and he sighed. He too felt great grief over the loss of the child. She was just 15 when it happened.Today was her 16th birthday.
"We could do something for her birthday."Steve suggested.
Nat shook her head."She wasn't like the other kids Steve. For her sweet sixteenth she just wanted to stay home with her family.Watch movies and talk about her dreams. It was not like her to go out to party's.You know she only had a few close friends."She nodded towards Peters picture that appeared on the screen.
"She was always a little different huh?"Steve laughed a little."Always wanting to prove herself.Maybe we should just light a candle for her."Nat shook her head in response.
"Maybe but maybe not.I'm not treating her as if she were dead.I know I'll see her again."Nat said standing up."I'm gonna go to the bathroom."She left the room to head upstairs.
As she got up she looked around for the door. Her eyes landing on Y/n's bedroom. She hesitated before taking a few steps forward and putting her hand on the handle. She twisted it gently as the room was opened. Her eyes glanced around looking for the light. Her hand found it and the lights flickered on.
There it was.Y/n's room.Fairy lights were around her bed frame as the room was now lit up like Christmas.
Nat smiled and walked around. Her eyes caught the pictures on the wall.Small Polaroid pictures of her and her family. There was a picture of Ned,Peter,Mj and Y/n all showing goofy faces at the camera.Nat smiled at her daughters face. All covered in chocolate ice cream.
She walked over and sat on her bed as she picked up a small teddy bear with a pink and blue bow.She smiled as this was the teddy that got Y/n through most of her childhood nightmares. Her safe space was her room of course. She sniffled a bit as she leant against the bed frame.
Flashbacks came back.
"Mom,help me please.I don't want to go please mom."
Nat shook her head trying to forget the voice of her daughter replaying in her mind. Then another came.
"I don't know what's happening to me.Mom please help."
Nat shook her head again as she quickly got off the bed and walked out as quick as she could. As if that room was a monster that's chasing her.She shut the door and leant her head against it.
She took a deep breath before Steve's voice was heard downstairs.
"NAT!"
She rushed down the stairs and entered the room again.
"What's wrong?"
"Is that from today?"He asked pointing to the screen that showed Scott waving his arms around in desperation.
"That's the front of the compound."She gasped.
"What the hell....."
Part three?
Maybe idk.Hope you liked it.
