You know the saying it caught the deer in headlights? Well, I was that deer right at this moment. Except instead of headlights, I’m caught in a tiger trap. Barging in their club room was the biggest and the stupidest mistake I’ve ever made in my life. I don’t think I’ll make it out of here alive. I couldn’t move, couldn’t even breath under their icy stares. I felt their power circling around the room as I stood there by the open door. I nearly shrieked in horror when I felt someone touch my shoulder from behind. I spun around and saw Hector staring at me, confused. I noticed he wasn’t in the club room when I barged in.
“What are you doing here?” Hector asks, making me step back as he steps into the room and closing the door.
“Barging into our club room is what she is doing.” Moxie blurts out before I could even open my mouth.
“What are you doing here?” Grimshaw growls.
“I-I uh figured out what makes my blood so special.” I nearly shuddered under his icy glare.
“Did you now?” Grimshaw asks coldly.
“We had a suspicion ourselves on why your blood is so special and why your appearance is changing.” Hector tells me.
“Huh? You guys were looking into it as well?” I ask, confused.
“We had no choice.” Moxie grumbled.
“We wanted to know why everyone is so drawn to your blood, and when we saw that your appearance was changing, then it pushed us in the right direction.” Hector explains to me, ignoring Moxie’s comment.
“Well, what did you guys find out?” I ask, wanting to see if they found out the same thing as I did.
Hector turns towards Grimshaw, who looks to be in a sour mood still. He finally let out a sigh of annoyance before turning and walking back to his couch. I watch him confused, as he sat down before looking up at me with boredom. What’s his problem? I wonder, confused.
“He’s probably pissed because he found out that you’re stronger than him.” Joz spoke up, chucking to himself.
“What are you talking about? I’m not stronger than him.” I tell him in my mind.
“Oh, dear Lonnie. Yes, you are.” Joz tells me seriously.
I didn’t have time to answer him as Grimshaw finally spoke up in a huff. “Do you know you have a demon inside of you?”
“I didn’t at first, but I found out last night.” I answer him, watching him closely.
“Do you know what it means to have a demon inside of you?” Grimshaw asks seriously.
“Well, usually possession but-” I say, but he interrupts me as he stands up and asks more firmly, “No. Do you know what it means to have a demon inside of you?”
“I-I uh I don’t know. Magic I guess? People who will come after you for your blood. I don’t know, Grimshaw, what do you want me to say?” I ask, getting frustrated.
“Magic yes. Demon magic, demon blood, demon power, demon appearance. You are practically a demon yourself Lonnie.” Grimshaw growls.
I took a step back in shock as I didn’t expect that what so ever. Me? A demon? No. That can’t be true because David or Joz would’ve told me, right? I’m not a demon. I’m just a teenage girl who died and came back because of a demon ritual. That doesn’t make me a demon. Right? But, I guess it makes sense. I have magic. I have demon blood coursing through my veins. My appearance changed overnight, and now I look completely different. No. I can’t be a demon. I just can’t be one. I look around the clubroom and watching them watch my reaction. I notice Grimshaw’s mood seemed to change once he saw my reaction. Did he think I knew all along? I shook my head as I glanced down at my hands in terror. I don’t want to be a demon. I don’t want to be one of those freaky monsters that they summoned before. I want to be normal. I thought as I tried to hold back my tears.
“Don’t overthink this. Calm down. Lonnie, calm down!” Joz tries to calm me down, but I couldn’t seem to get my head together.
My vision blurred, and I felt a weird sensation coursing through my body. My fingers tingled as my head pounded. I can barely see through my blurred vision, but I notice everyone in the room shooting up from their seats. I don’t know what’s happening, but everything feels numbed. Am I dreaming again? It almost feels like I’m dreaming, but more. Coldness and warmth circled around me as I felt lightheaded. My legs gave out as my eyes rolled to the back of my head, and all I saw was darkness when I’m consumed by unconsciousness.
