Chapter 23 - The challenge

"Hello, good morning pa" said Sivaangi looking at her father via video call

"Good morning Ma, all ok va? Break fast over ah? Kutties?" her father bombarded her with questions

"All good pa, am done with breakfast, kids are still eating" she replied,  happily leaning against her bed frame

"Enna kids eating sollitu nee bed la paduthutu irukka? Who is taking care of them then?" asked her father confused

Sivaangi shushed her father with finger on her lips and tiptoed outside the room, stood in a position where living room was visible to her but she not much from the living room. She changed the camera angle to face the room and showed her father the scene

Ashwin was sitting in the middle eating poori with potato along with the kids who were also eating from their plate while all three of them were watching something on the tv, seated comfortably on the floor.

"Enna Sivu, adhisayama avangale feed pannaama saapdraanga? Eppadi?" Asked her father confused

"Therila Ashwin made them do it" replied Sivaangi silently.

"Ennadhu feed pannama saapadraangala? Enga kaatunga" came her mother into the video call

Meanwhile Ashwin noticed her presence, lifted his head and asked what by lifting his eyebrows

Sivaangi moved to the living room sat on the sofa behind Ashwin and gave the phone to him saying "appa"

"Hello uncle, aunty eppadi irukeenga?" asked Ashwin very formally

"We are good pa, how are you? Are you feeling better now?" asked her father

"Much better uncle, thanks to Sivaangi" he replied turning his head slightly towards her with a smile

"Thatha,  Ashwineyy made Poori potato for breakfast, it is so yummy" came Mithra squealing into the video call

"Yeah thatha see I finished it on my own" added Nethra showing her empty plate

"Super da thangam, inime Ella time um ippadi feed pannama saapduviya?" asked Sivaangi's mother

"Sure paati, if Ashwineyy cooks, we will" chirped Nethra

"Velangidum" replied her mother with a sigh smile

"All ready for tomorrow's flight pa?" asked Sivaangi looking at her father

In a fraction of second Ashwin showed some signal to her father which Sivaangi failed to notice as she turned towards Mithra who was trying to do some mischief

"Illama innum oru two da...." her father dragged as if getting some approval

"Two weeks aagum Ma" he finished which made Ashwin's eyes smile

"Ennadhu two weeks ah?" Sivaangi asked shocked

"Pa, I took leave for only one week, how can I handle the kids alone?" asked Sivaangi confused

"It is ok Ma, I will take care" Ashwin pitched in.

"Neenga ennatha take care pannuveenga, ungalukku shoot illaya? she asked looking at him

"Adhaane Ashwin sollunga ungalukku shoot illaya?" asked her father with a muffled chuckle

"Adhellam naan paathukaren ma, I will pick them after school, take care of them till you are back and then I will leave back to my hotel" replied Ashwin.
