Leyla's Point Of View

Seeing Drew had brought back many memories, he was a lot older than me but he was like a big brother to me. He protected me from bullies, he even threatened to beat the future King if he continued to act like an ass when I was in high school. He spent time having picnics with me and Nona on sunny afternoons, he was also my sparing partner who was always willing to teach me new tricks and defence techniques.

Drew had gone up and the years had been good to him. He was much taller and although he wasn't bulky like most warriors he was still lean and you could tell that he was fit. When he pulled me into his warms I felt warm and safe. I couldn't help the blush that rose to my face for it had been the first time that a non-related male had shown me affection.

I could see my mother was apprehensive about accepting him into the lands, she was very secretive. I could feel her emit her power through her wolf. It wasn't before long that she was asking questions when Drew mentioned that Nona had sent him. I couldn't stop the surprise reaching my face. I knew Nona could anticipate future danger and problems but how she knew where this pack was baffled me.

Did Nona know that I would find my birth mother? How did she predict that I would end up with The Mallapers. When mother was looking at the letter that Nona sent him I could see something was bothering her but equally she seemed satisfied with what was revealed. I think her main concern was how he found the pack and if he was followed. The one thing I knew about my mother was that she was protective of those who were under her care, she was truly a good and selfless Alpha.

While we followed my mother to the Pack House, me and Drew continued to catch up. It had been many years since I had last seen him. He had disappeared from the Royal Pack when he turned eighteen. I never knew where he went, I had no idea that he was still in contact with Nona these years until she told me that she had sent the empty IV drip.

Drew explained that when he turned eighteen he was given a small fund to survive but he had applied to the human schools and acquired a scholarship to Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He explained that he studied chemistry, he had successfully obtained his PHD and was now a doctor. I asked whether he met his mate in which he became closed off and stated that it was complicated. When he spoke about the human side of the world I couldn't help but be fascinated. He had managed to settle and build a life for himself. He said that he was happy and corresponded with Nona through letters.

When I asked him about Nona's letters he stated that the first letter he received was a request into looking into what was in the remnants of the IV Drip, he said it wasn't even a week later that he received the second letter stating that I would be in danger and need help. He said that he followed her instructions and sought me out as soon as he received notice. I couldn't help but be confused by his words and when I asked if I could see the letter he handed to me freely.

It was then that the tears escaped my eyes at her final words. 'Tell Leyla that I love her.' My heart ached with pain and hurt that she was no longer alive. The date of her letter was a few days before the engagement party meaning that she sensed that I would be in danger. She did everything she could to protect me. I saw my mother give me a sad smile and I felt Drew squeeze my shoulder.

"Are you alright Leyla?" He whispered as we were walking. I couldn't help the shake of my head, I knew I wasn't okay. I wondered if he knew that Nona was dead. The words were stuck in my throat. Thankfully my mother was becoming more and more in tuned to my emotions and she spoke for me as we reached the pack house.

"Come Drew, I will explain everything in my office. We will need to go through some formalities before anything else." She interrupted.

It wasn't before long that we had made our way to my mother's office. It was quaint and made up of refurbished furniture. I made my way to the sofa and threw myself back trying to push the tears into the back of my mind. My mother explained that if Drew was to remain here he would need to take a blood oath, it was pretty much the same one that I had taken. He was more than happy to comply.
