Chapter 26: Mr. Shawn

   "Please, have a seat." John's dad says, walking past me to sit in a recliner. I decide to sit on the love seat, where John's dad is in front and John and his mom are to my right.
   "John said he'd be having someone over." John's dad says, inspecting me without expression. "What's so special about him? He a friend?"
   "Kinda." John says quietly. He decides to speak up a bit. "We're more than friends."
   John's dad looks at him, giving him a cold, dark glare. He looks back to me, not changing his expression. "You're his boyfriend?" he asks flatly.
   "Y-yes sir, I am." I stutter, fearing for the next few seconds. He stands up and slowly walks up to me, still giving me that cold, hard gaze.
   He stops about arms reach away and looks at John. "Why?"
   John stands up. "Because I love him."
"Is that so?" John's dad looks back to me. I didn't realize how big the guy was until he was standing over me.
   I stand up now. "Look Mr..."
   "Shawn. Mr. Shawn." he says, looking down at me.
   "Mr. Shawn, your son and I have been dating for over 6 months." I say, hoping to calm him down. "I hope you-" He puts a hand on my shoulder.
   "Kane, a friend of my son's is a friend of mine." he says, smiling.
   Relief floods over my body. "Thank you."
He sits back down and laughs. "Have you two kissed yet?" he asks, still smiling.
   "Shawn." John's mom says.
   "Yep. As often as we can." John says, laughing. He gets up and sits beside me. I feel him grab my hand.
   "Anyone want snacks?" John's mom asks as she gets up.
   "Nah, we're fine." John says.
   We talked about everything you could just about imagine. School, music, the economic state of America, EVERYTHING. I feel like I've known Mr. Shawn for years.
   I sit and talk until lunch. I decide I should head back home. I stand up and say goodbye. I give John a quick kiss on the cheek, which caused Mr. Shawn to "Aaaw."
   I start my walk home.
   I can't stop smiling. Everything went better than expected.
