"So then my spider sense picked up a disturbance behind me, which I figured was another bad guy, right?" Spider-Man said as he relayed one of his more recent patrol heroics to the Avengers during a break.

"It wasn't," Loki piped up casually from the kitchen.

"You weren't even there-"

"I can practically smell the regret from the false conclusion, Spider."

Spider-Man narrowed his eyes. "But, you don't know what happened afterwards?"

"Only that you believed a lie. Continue."

Spider-Man nodded and glanced around at his friends. "Like Loki so kindly pointed out, there was not a bad guy. There was, however, a digital screen counting down connected to an explosive."

"What kind of low-level criminal gets a hold of a bomb?" Stark mused.

"The kind that's gotten involved with something bigger than themselves," Spider-Man sighed. "In other words, I've got a gang to track down."

"Well," Steve said, eyes twinkling, "hopefully that doesn't take up too much of your time. I'm planning a team bonding day soon. We'll do some training, play some games, watch a movie - the works. We'd like you to be able to spend the night the Friday leading into the full day, and then you would leave that Sunday as soon as you wanted to head out."

"I'm not-"

"Don't worry about it," Steve shrugged. "We've fought together enough. We're basically just waiting for Fury to give the word at this point, honestly."

"Oh, uh, cool. Cool."

Loki smirked. "May the internal panic commence."

"I'm not freaking out."

"Sure."

Spider-Man rolled his eyes, an action they somehow understood from the movement that of his lenses, and turned his attention back to the walking American flag. "Let me know whenever you get a date figured out, and I'll see it works."

"Am I hearing that you have a life?" Clint chirped in loudly from wherever he was.

"Don't act so surprised!"

"Hey guys!" Spider-Man grunted as he climbed through the Avengers' living room window the agreed on Friday evening after wrapping up his patrol. He'd obviously made a trip home to change, if his civilian clothing was anything to go by. "Long night, eh? How's everyone?"

Clint, Loki, and Steve, glanced up and paused what they were watching to greet their visitor. Seeing as it was pretty late, most everyone else had gone ahead to bed. "Pretty good, I'd say," Steve smiled as he stood to welcome his guest with a friendly hug. "How was patrol?"

Subtly, Spider-Man winced away from the contact. "Kinda standard, not gonna lie. No weirdos were out tonight, so it was just the usual flavor of bad."

"Can we get you anything before bed?" Steve asked as he moved towards the other two in the room, the vigilante following.

"Nah, I have everything I think I'll need. What time should I be up tomorrow?"

"Friday will let you know, unless there's a time you had in mind to be up by?"

"Nah."

"Your room is near our rooms," Clint said, gesturing towards Loki. "We can show you."

"Sweet," Spider-Man said as he began to follow them.

"Captain has a big day planned tomorrow," Loki sighed, "or so I'm told."

"Exciting," Spider-Man yawned.

The next morning, everyone was expecting to be in the gym as soon as they finished getting ready for the day. Most showed face suited up, but Spider-Man stood out in his basketball shorts and tank top. Out of all the heroes present, he seemed to be the least likely to want to train out of suit, especially since he was one of the few that never fought without it. Iron Man brought this up: "Where's the pajamas, Underoos?"

Spider-Man blushed under his mask, desperate for a quick reply. In his brain, a wheel of possible responses spun round and round until his settled on his next words, which were more of a tactful diversion that anything. "Why? You like my usual threads that much, Tin Can?" Loki gave him the side-eye.

"It just seems weird to see you all normal, I guess," Clint butted in. "Did you leave your suit with your family or someone to wash?"

"He said so to me during breakfast," Loki confirmed, saving Spider-Man (who had a denial sitting on his lips. Gosh, that out was practically sitting in his lap!) "Something about it needing a spot removed after stepping in some unfortunate goo."

"New York is wild, man," Spider-Man said tightly. The brief look Loki gave him said exactly what the god of mischief thought of his deception skills. "Anyway, what'd you have planned, Captain?"
