AZRIEL HAS RAIN slumped across his shoulder as we drag him to Az's new room

AZRIEL HAS RAIN slumped across his shoulder as we drag him to Az's new room. He doesn't know his roommate yet since he hasn't checked in but he's hoping he won't care that Rain's crashing for tonight.

"Tell me again, why are we helping him?" Scout asks for the millionth time. Azriel's jacket draped over her due to the insufferable winter weather, that keeps on trying to expose me by blowing up my skirt in all directions. Stupid, stupid winter. I wish I was somewhere in the southern hemisphere and not here.

"Because..." He begins his breath fogging in the nights air. I lean under Rains other arm helping Az who wouldn't need it on a normal day but looks like he's nursing an injury to his right shoulder today.

"Exactly." Scout answers curtly as she hurries her steps to walk beside us, patting down her hair that blows in the air.

Az sighs, before muttering a 'step' and I look down making direct eye contact with a giant rock I hadn't noticed. I step over it, thanking him. "He's my brother Scout." He tries to reason.

"You sure he knows that?" I turn to her, shooting her down with a momentary death stare. "I'm sorry Az, I didn't mean that it just slipped out -" She begins to apologise fervently, realising what she's just said.

"It's fine." It's not. Az knows how Rain feels, I mean Rain makes it pretty clear. He isn't the most socially aware person, I know that. He says what he says and usually doesn't care that he has to reap the repercussions. It's just that sometimes he's plain mean.

"He's just stubborn, he'll come around someday Az." I try and reassure. But If I'm being honest, I've never been the best at that. Like if someone were to cry, I'd just stand there awkwardly and then realise I have to do something, and I'd hug them.

The club quarters music fades away the closer we approach to the hearts quarter, the large heart symbol in the front already lit up due to the time. We're quiet for a while, the only sound feet kicking grovel until a phone rings.

"It's just Lo." Scout mutters confirming its her phone, since she's holding all of ours. Tension rolls through the air at the mention of Lo. We walk through the double doors, and I see the lock of Azriel's jaw at the mention of him.

"He's not that bad." Scout cuts in, noticing the awkward silence as she declines his call.

"He's a swimmer. He's fucking bad." Azriel bites back, his anger not foreign on the topic of Lo.

"Sage swims." I counter.

"Sage has a soul." Well, he's not wrong there.

Lo Patel despite his reputation as Whitlock's best swimmer and team captain has got to be one of the most irritating males ever - somehow, Scout has managed to see past that. How? Neither Azriel nor I have a clue. But we've come to terms with him being her boyfriend, as long she's happy.
