❝ cause it's not just a figure of speech
you got me down on my knees
it's getting harder to breathe ❞SHE'S RIGHT HERE, I could reach her in less than five steps. It's insufferable, being this close to someone without being able to touch them.
"The bonfire would be fun," Rain had said. Bullshit, I would have more fun gauging my eyes out with forks for twenty hours than be near her and not be able to say anything.
"...drink up if you've ever sent a nude." Through the crackling fire that illuminates the night sky, I watch as some kids drink up at the question posed.
This game has been going on forever, granted it's probably been like ten minutes, but when you're somewhere you don't want to be time isn't friendly.
"Okay okay, never have I ever...gotten with my significant other's bestfriend." People whistle at the question and my eyes wander to the ones who drink - Salem meets my roaming gaze as she takes a sip of hers. I would be surprised if I hadn't known all about her and Sage's little rendezvous.
Honestly, I was pissed when I first found out about them. Not because Sage hadn't told me - well, a little at that. But mainly because of what Salem had said to him right before I'd asked her out.
I didn't even know they got together, let alone the fact that she used him to get me until the day of our break up.
Salem's bedroom is too red. I never thought I'd be the type of person to care about what the inside of a girl's bedroom looks like, let alone my girlfriends but the thought's been nagging at me all morning.
Even as we're wrapped in her silk red sheets, and shielded from the rest of the world thanks to her - red - curtains that are hung on her canopy bed frame, I can't help but think of anything but how prominent the colour is.
Salem gets up from beside me, the sheets that fall at her waist exposing her naked back. She leans forward grabbing my t-shirt from the footing of the bed and I watch as she slips it onto herself.
"You know I never thought we'd be together." She says absentmindedly. I get up, knowing that once Salem's started to talk she has no intention of stopping. I don't however, anticipate for the morning wind to nip at my bare chest.
"What do you mean?" I ask, running my hands through my hair so I don't look like a complete mess. The last time I saw myself in a mirror was yesterday in the afternoon, right before the both of us had taken it to her bed.
Salem turns to face me and I pat the spot beside me not liking how far away she is. Instead of taking the proposed invitation, she climbs up onto my lap instead.
She's quiet for a few moments, "I mean after what happened with Sage I was so sure you wouldn't look in my direction."
"What do you mean after what happened with Sage?" What happened to Sage? Is he alright?
