Kahina's POV

Reinette is still thinking about this retiring shit. We're not even in our 30s and she's acting like some old woman who has seen it all in life. I'm mad honestly I can't believe she wants to just give up. We are the Meylin twins.

But as her sister, I guess I have to respect her decision and I must respect it. But I will never leave her no matter what, even if it means I must give up on getting justice for our parents. Just like Papa always said, "A way forward is not a way if we look back." I guess it's time to let go. I'm pretty sure Rowan will be happy.

It's now a day before the ball and I decided to take turn for the guard today. I love being in the forest because I see my reflection in it. It's so peaceful and yet it is very dangerous. My sister and I have been in this camp longer than we have in other camps. I have a thing that's telling me that this is where she wants to settle. Of course it is.

The north region has more humans but it is closest to the castle. The wolves are not too far from here. That's why it's rare for vampires come around here. I guess I can say it's safest.

"Hey," I heard a deep voice say behind me.

I turned around to be met by a blonde boy. He had green eyes and a very well built body. As much as he sounds like one of those jerky blonde boys, he looked like a nice boy. I immediately had an attraction towards him. I have been with guys before yes but him, he is different. My taste in men is very questionable, I always pick the ones that look like they are always ready to break my heart.

I dated Shaun and he was a big mistake, hey I saw him maybe once in every 2 weeks. We dated only for a month till I found out he had been messing with a couple of people. Then Theo, he was a sweetheart and happened to be my first time doing, you know what. Although I met him before Shaun, actually before my life became as crazy as it is right now. He was a sweetheart at first but he changed on me and became a jerk. And well every other guy I have been with. I'm not going to explain my full dating history.

This guy is beautiful, and he has this aura around him which is very calming.

"Hi, can I help you?" I ask him hoping my voice doesn't betray the fast beating of my heart.

"Well, you've been standing on my post for two hours. I thought I'd give you a break?" He says. Oh? He's the one I'm guarding for.

"Oh no actually this is very enjoyable. I love staring at the forest. It's like the sea." I say.

"It's calming?" He took the words right out of my head.

"It's calming." I repeat his words. He gives me a beautiful pearly smile and I almost fall to my knees. I should never tease my sister for being boy crazy.

"My name is Jordan." He says.

"Nice to meet you Jordan. I'm Kah-" He didn't let me finish my sentence before he spoke again.

"Kahina. I've heard a lot about you. I'm a really big fan. I actually write about the two Ginger Goddesses." He says.

It's west that he knows my name, yes a lot of people know us but not many people can tear us apart but somehow Jordan guess right.

"I'm not- we're- I mean- wait, you write?" I lost my words because I'm an awkward person and I can't take complements.

"Yeah it's a.. little embarrassing. A lot of people think it's stupid and I guess according to them, it's not "manly" enough. By them I mean my parents." He says.

"I think it's amazing. If you can create a picture using words in one's mind and make it want more. You are more than an amazing person. I say you're wizard." He laughs at my stupid joke.
