- You shivered uncontrollably. Tom pressing against you wasn't helping much, but you were a little warm. "Brrr! It's so cold today!" You snapped, huddling closer to Tom. "It's winter," Tom pointed out. "Yeah, I know. Thanks for informing me," you hissed. As you did, a cloud of your own breath rose around your face.
"Why'd we have to go shopping today of all days?" Matt complained next to you. "Because we're out of cola," Edd replied simply, trailing beside him. When you all shot him dirty looks, he added carefully: "...And milk?" Matt instantly had more motivation to track unsuccessfully through the snow. You and the guys arrived at the grocery store. You were suddenly overcome with extreme emotion and wanted to kiss whoever ran the heater.
"Alright, split up guys. We all have lists," Edd commanded. Instantly, you all grabbed carts and went your separate ways. Tom went into the snack aisle, and Edd and Matt went into the drink aisle. You pulled the list out of your coat pocket and scanned it. "Bacon and pancake batter," you read aloud. I can do that. You wandered over to the meat section of the grocery store.
They were selling packets of bacon, so you grabbed as many as you could carry and stuffed them in your cart. You grabbed the cart handle and turned around, being instantly met with dark, hollow eyes. "Jesus, Tom! You scared me!" You complained, falling back. You pressed your free hand on your chest as if to feel your heartbeat.
"Sorry, I saw you here so I thought..." He trailed off. You sighed and looked at his cart. "You're already done?" You asked, mildly surprised. But only mildly. When Tom was hungry, he would do anything in his power to get food as soon as possible. "Yeah," he responded, freezing for a second before perking up and saying: "I think Edd and Matt are still in the drink aisle."
"Oh, alright. Let's go help them out, Edd is probably getting as many packs of cola as he can, anyways," you joked. Tom shrugged and followed as you marched over to the drinks aisle. You were unsurprised when you saw Edd and Matt stuffing multiple packs of cola into Edds cart in the middle of the aisle. "Jeez!" Tom exclaimed, watching them.
"I don't want to come here any time soon," Edd explained breathlessly as he stood up straight and wiped his forehead. Matt picked up his cart, which was filled with gallons of milk. He lumbered over to you. "You guys aren't messing around," you commented. "And by the looks of it, neither are you," Edd countered, narrowing his eyes at your cart, then looking at you.
"This is all for you guys," you snorted. "Your obsession with bacon is why I have to fill up my cart every time we come here." Edd pulled a list out of his pocket and looked over it. "Do we have everything?" He asked, looking at each of your carts. "I got bacon," you said. Tom rolled his eyes at you. "I have chips, marshmallows, whipped cream..." He stopped and looked through his cart.
"...A factory worth of candy, and soap." Everyone looked at him. "Why soap?" Matt asked. "Because we don't have any?" Tom replied as if it were obvious. "We do," you said. "Not the good kind," he answered. "And what about you, Matt?" Edd interrupted, trying to get you to drop the subject. Matt stared at Edd and lifted an eyebrow.
"Milk, right." He crossed out the items you all had collectively, then nodded. "We're good to go. C'mon, guys!" Edd said, stuffing the note into his pocket, picking up his cart, and marching past you all. You picked up your own carts and scampered after him. You checked out everything, carried it to the car, and drove home. It was mildly dark out.
Matt ran off to check the mail while you and the guys combined all your strength to move a bag over to the front door. You peeked over at Matt. He was staring at a letter with a puzzled look on his face. "Hey, guys?" He called, looking over. "Yeah?" Edd replied absently, walking back to the car to fetch another bag. Tom followed, completely ignoring Matt.
You, on the other hand, wandered over to him. "What's up?" You glanced at the letter in his hand. "What's that?" You questioned, getting on your tippy-toes to get a better look. "It's a letter for you, but it doesn't have another name on it," Matt answered, handing you the letter. You blinked. "For me?"
You scanned the envelope. Matt was right. The only name on the letter was yours. You curiously tore it open. "It's a note," you said aloud. Matt hovered over you. "Hi, Y/N. The army's getting bigger by the day..." You trailed off and continued reading in your head. "...I forgot something and I'm coming back to get it soon," you finished.
Matt was completely stumped. "This... This is from Tord!" You exclaimed. At the sound of his name, Edd and Tom scrambled over and looked at the letter. "I thought he got arrested," Tom muttered begrudgingly. "Of course not!" Edd said defensively. You all looked at Edd. "He's coming back," you told him, deciding to leave out the 'I forgot something.'
"What? When?" He looked over the letter. "I don't know. It doesn't say," you answered. Tom grunted and marched into the house. "Let's talk about this over hot chocolate," Matt suggested, skidding off into the house. Edd chased after him. "I'm putting cola in mine!" You heard him announce excitedly. You looked down at the letter.
Tom peeked out of the house. "Y/N? You coming?" He called. Golden light from inside the house flooded outside the door. "Yeah..." You muttered. "Yeah," you repeated louder, walking into the house and stuffing the letter into your pocket. Tom blinked at you. "Everything alright?" He questioned. "I'm fine," you replied. Everythings fine. -
