As the guard slammed his baton against the counter, my father stepped forward, his face expectant, only to be met with a curt, "Next! Nu-uh. Nothing for you."

Garmadon paused, clearly unimpressed but masking it with his usual composure. "There's a valuable lesson here, son. If you turn your back on your first evil Sensei in an effort to go straight... you may not be served creamy biscuits." He trailed off, casting a sly glance at Lloyd.

Lloyd frowned at the cryptic remark, but before he could respond, the guard barked again, "Next!" I quickly shuffled forward, trying to ignore the awkward exchange.

I held out my tray, and two creamy biscuits plopped down onto it, the guard sparing me a curt nod. "Well, I know what we are being served," Lloyd muttered as we walked away. "A whole bunch of baloney. This isn't a fighting tournament. It's an alibi for Chen to steal everyone's powers. But we still don't know why."

"Isn't it obvious?" I interjected, balancing the tray in one hand as I walked beside him. "Chen wants to destroy New Ninjago City. That place has had a string of bad luck lately. It'd be his perfect target."

"I'm not so sure," Cole countered, his brows furrowing in thought. "From what Sensei G's told us about him, I have a feeling it's something far more sinister."

"And may I remind us," Jay chimed in, clearly relieved to not have an opponent to face. "We still don't know where Zane is, which is why we all need to take care of our first rounds to give us more time." He shrugged, then grinned smugly. "Don't look at me, I've already moved on."

Cole raised an eyebrow. "Your opponent got himself kicked out," he reminded Jay dryly.

"Hehe, either way, it's my day off." Jay turned to the Cultist serving food. "Extra creamy biscuits. And don't skimp."

As we headed to our table, Cole crossed his arms, shooting a glance at Jay. "Taking a day off? And here I thought ninja never quit."

Jay's demeanor shifted instantly. He straightened up, the grin fading into a sharp glare. "And I used to think a ninja wouldn't steal your girlfriend."

I nearly dropped my tray as my eyes widened. Oh no, not again. Quickly, I sat down, hoping to avoid being caught in the middle of that argument.

Cole's jaw tightened, his face darkening. "I didn't steal anyone I always had my eyes set on one girl."

"Whatever you have to say to each other," Garmadon's voice cut through the tension like a blade, calm but firm, "say it now. Harboring grudges hurts no one but yourselves."

"He's right," Lloyd added, trying to mediate. "You should be preparing to fight your next opponent, not each other."

"What grudge? I already dropped it," Cole muttered, leaning back in his chair.

Jay narrowed his eyes. "I dropped it first."

"Did not."

"Did too."

Before I could stop them, Jay shoved Cole lightly, causing his biscuits and drink to spill across the table. I groaned and buried my head in my hands. "This is ridiculous," I muttered to no one in particular.

Garmadon leaned toward me, his voice lowered. "The tournament will test them," he said. "Either find a way for them to make peace, or neither of them will move on."
