—~~••~~—A storm raged across the sky, dark clouds clawing at the heavens while bolts of lightning flashed like angry cracks in the world above. Rain slammed into the fuselage of a plane slicing through the chaos, shuddering under the weight of wind and pressure.
"Secure that pattern! Band those hatches!" the captain barked into his headset, knuckles white as he gripped the wheel. "And for the love of Pete, somebody tie those snack carts down!"
"Aye aye, Cap!" a voice crackled back through the comms.
The plane rocked again, harder this time. The captain nearly lost his grip, his shoulder slamming against the console. The wheel twisted violently.
"Kwon! Get the wheel!"
Kwon, the autopilot system with semi-mechanical arms, stepped forward and reached for the controls—but the moment his hands met the wheel, a burst of wind struck the aircraft broadside. It flung the autopilot backward like a rag doll, sparks bursting from the control panel.
Then the nose dropped.
The world tilted. Alarms blared. Passengers screamed. The ocean, dark and endless, rushed up to meet them.
And then—light.
A golden brilliance burst from above the storm, so pure it cut through the black like sunlight through smoke. Something enormous soared down through the clouds—scales glinting with energy, wings slicing the sky. A dragon, born of wind and light, dove from the heavens with grace and fury.
The storm bent to her will. Wind coiled around her in ribbons. The rain stopped striking the plane. The turbulence eased. With one sweep of her wings, the dragon caught the tumbling aircraft in an updraft and straightened its course, restoring balance where chaos had reigned.
Inside the cockpit, Kwon recovered and stared through the windshield in awe. "You saved us," he whispered. "Thank you."
From above, a voice rolled down like thunder gentled by breeze. "You're welcome."
The co-pilot blinked, heart pounding. "I... I know that voice."
The captain slowly nodded, the words sinking like stone into his gut. "Yes. Y/n. It sounded like Y/n the ninja."
High above, the dragon flew silently, golden light trailing in her wake. But her brow furrowed, and her wings trembled mid-beat.
Y/n?
The name echoed through her mind, stirring something long buried. She flew into the clouds, her thoughts swirling like the wind that carried her.
Y/n. Y/n? Do I know that name? I think I do. Y/n... from Ninjago...
The clouds parted ahead, and a soft glow emerged—subtle at first, then bright as a lantern in the dark. From that light stepped a figure, translucent and pale, eyes sharp and knowing.
Morro.
He hovered just above the clouds, his form shifting like mist. The dragon slowed, wind quieting around her as she gazed at him.
"Who are you?" she asked, voice unsure but curious.
"I am one with the winds," Morro said with a smile, "like you."
She tilted her head. The words sounded familiar, haunting even.
"I've heard that before," she murmured.
