Song in title- HIGHEST IN THE ROOM
by Travis Scott
—~~••~~—At the Ninjago Museum of History, Jay stood in front of a mannequin, holding Samukai's head with a grin. "This ends now, Samukai," he muttered, pretending to talk to the mannequin. "Nope, pretending this is the actual Samukai doesn't make cleaning up the museum any more interesting. This is so lame. We're ninja, not janitors." He waved the mannequin's head in frustration, his voice dripping with boredom as I continued sweeping the floor nearby.
Lloyd, passing by with a cart carrying the Chen mannequin, shot Jay a knowing look. "Come on, Jay. We're all kinda responsible for the damage to the museum. After all, if we hadn't had that massive battle on the Day of the Departed, this place would still be in one piece."
Jay rolled his eyes, his voice sarcastic. "Yeah, and whose fault is that, Y/n and Cole?" he said, pointing an accusing finger at us.
I raised my eyebrows, unfazed. "Jay, I've said sorry a bunch of times."
Cole, who had been admiring Yang's portrait, turned and nodded toward Jay. "Yeah, how many more times do we have to apologize for accidentally unleashing the ghostly forces of evil that attacked Ninjago?" He casually set the portrait in a nearby wheelbarrow, not breaking his casual pace.
Jay placed the Samukai head into a nearby box, his voice dripping with annoyance. "How high can you count?"
Cole grabbed the handles of the wheelbarrow, but as his hands glowed bright orange, he winced and let go quickly. "Ahh," he muttered, his expression full of frustration.
Jay glanced over, raising an eyebrow. "Eh, speaking of which, still not used to having your old, non-ghost hands back?" he asked casually, taking the box with him.
I leaned the broom against the wall and walked over to help Cole. I could see how hard he was trying to adjust, and I wanted to make his transition back to his human form as smooth as possible. "Oh, I'm working on it," Cole replied, his tone trying to sound confident, but there was still a hint of uncertainty.
"Don't worry, you'll get it," I reassured him, watching as his hands slowly returned to normal. He gave me a small, grateful smile.
"You know," Cole said quietly, "if it weren't for you, I'd never get my hands under control."
His words warmed my heart. But I still didn't think Cole fully realized just how strong he really was. It wasn't just about getting his hands back under control—it was about him accepting his true power.
"This is exhausting," Nya said with a deep sigh as she set a box down and straightened her back, letting her head rest briefly on the box. "If I could go back in time, I'd tell Dr. Saunders we were too busy to help."
Zane, pulling a cart with the Cryptor mannequin, raised an eyebrow. "Nya, you may recall that the rest of us once time-traveled. It can have devastating effects and should not be used lightly. Certainly not to get out of labor."
Nya waved him off with a flick of her hand. "It's just an expression, Zane."
"Hey, look at this," Cole muttered, pulling me in front of a huge portrait. "Isn't that your dad?" I blinked and glanced at the portrait. "It is."
Everyone else gathered around to take a look. I pointed toward the figure next to my father. "And there's Master Wu," I added.
"He looks so... young," Nya trailed off, a touch of wonder in her voice.
