"I never knew your powers were connected to the Storm Amulet," Cole said quietly, shaking his head as we sat on the stone steps outside the p of Monastery. His voice carried the weight of helplessness, the kind that made my chest tighten.

I stared at the horizon, the sky tinted gold with the setting sun, but its warmth didn't reach me. "No one knew..." I murmured, my voice thin. The wind picked up slightly, tugging strands of hair across my face as if trying to comfort me—an instinctive gesture of the element I had once felt so in tune with.

Cole was quiet for a moment, thoughtful, then offered, "Don't worry. Nya, Maya, Jay, Lloyd, Zane, and P.I.X.A.L.—they all went to the deep sea to figure out what was causing Nya's powers to go haywire—"

"And now that they figured it out, they're going to get the Storm Amulet from the Keepers. I know!" I cut in, sharper than I intended. I stood abruptly, unable to stay still, and the wind responded to my rising emotions. A sudden gust whipped around us, scattering dry leaves and dust.

I paused, closed my eyes, and sat back down slowly, grounding myself as the breeze settled. I let out a shaky breath.

"It doesn't change the fact that—" The words caught in my throat. I couldn't say it. That I have to destroy it. That I have to die to save the rest of you.

So instead, I finished with a hollow half-truth. "That I have to stay here."

Cole studied me for a second, clearly sensing that something was off, but he didn't press me. His hand found mine—warm, steady, reassuring. "The Island was too far away," he said gently. "We'd never reach it as quick as them. It's okay, Y/n. You've done enough."

But have I? My mind whispered cruelly. Or have I just been stalling—hoping someone else will fix this so I won't have to make the sacrifice no one is ready to ask for?

Before I could spiral further, a crackle of static burst from the nearby communication console inside the Monastery. We both turned toward it, instinct taking over.

"Come in, Master Wu. Come in. This is the Hydro Bounty, do you copy? Master Wu? Kai! Anyone, come in!" Pixal's voice rang out, urgent and distorted by the signal.

Cole and I shot to our feet in unison. Without saying a word, we raced inside, footsteps echoing down the corridor as adrenaline surged through my veins.

"P.I.X.A.L.!" Cole shouted as we burst into the control room, rushing to the monitor. He leaned over the console, trying to sharpen the fuzzy image, while I stood at his side, heart pounding.

P.I.X.A.L.'s face flickered into view, her digital features strained. "Finally. Thank the Master," she breathed, clearly relieved.

Before we could ask anything, Nya's voice cut in, urgent and crackling with static. "Cole, there's no time. You have to listen—we're at the Island of the Keepers, looking for the Storm Amulet."

My breath caught.

"It's not here," she continued, her tone darkening. "It's been stolen."

The words hit like a lightning strike. My entire body tensed. Stolen? The thought spiraled in my head like a violent cyclone. No. No, no, no...

Cole turned toward me, his expression shifting from confusion to concern as he saw my reaction. "...That's bad," he murmured, eyes locking with mine.

Bad? It was catastrophic. If the amulet was already out there—already in the wrong hands—then time was slipping through our fingers faster than I could grasp it.
