—~~••~~—"The ninja. The Master Wu." Dr. Saunders grinned widely, striding up to us with an air of confidence.
"Dr. Saunders." Sensei greeted with a respectful nod, his hands folded behind his back.
"Oh, please. We are all friends here." Dr. Saunders waved his hand dismissively. "You must call me by my first name, yes? Sander, yes?" He emphasized the "Sander" with a wink.
I leaned toward Cole, lowering my voice as I whispered, "Dr. Sander Saunders?"
Cole snickered, raising an eyebrow. "Seems like a fake name," he muttered, a grin spreading across his face. His words made both of us laugh quietly, the tension in the air lifting.
Cole's hand brushed against mine, and I smiled, squeezing it. Being with him felt so natural now, so right.
Dr. Saunders gestured grandly toward the entrance of the hall, his eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "I am so pleased to be seeing you all here now. We are opening our new exhibit. Come, come, come! You must see! Behold the Hall of Villainy!"
The doors swung open, and we stepped into a dimly lit room. "Wow," we all breathed in unison, the cool air filled with the faint scent of polished wood and dust.
Dr. Saunders pointed to a figure standing in the center of the room. "Cryptor!" he declared with exaggerated flair.
Zane, ever the skeptic, tilted his head. "A plastic mannequin," he said flatly, arms crossed over his chest.
Dr. Saunders didn't miss a beat. He moved on, his voice rising in excitement. "And here we have Kozu!"
Lloyd's eyes narrowed as he observed the display. "Uncanny," he muttered, taking a few cautious steps closer to the figure.
Next, Dr. Saunders moved to the exhibit with a smirk. "Chen," he said, spreading his arms wide.
Nya's lips curved into a nostalgic smile as she spoke. "Memories," she said softly, her voice full of emotion. It was clear she was thinking back to their encounters, some bittersweet, others filled with victory.
Dr. Saunders chuckled to himself, almost as if relishing the history behind the next name. "Samukai!" he called out, a hint of mockery in his tone.
Jay blinked and looked around, his eyes darting between the exhibits. "Is he looking at me?" he asked, frowning slightly.
"Maybe from the past," Sensei replied calmly, his gaze never leaving the exhibits.
Finally, Dr. Saunders gestured dramatically to the last figure in the dark corner. "And Morro," he said with a touch of reverence, his voice softer.
As I looked at Morro's figure, a warm smile tugged at my lips. He had been an important part of our story, and despite everything that had happened, I couldn't help but feel a sense of connection.
Dr. Saunders seemed to sense the shift in the atmosphere and grinned. "Checking this out! We don't just open on the Day of Departed. No, no. This is a special occasion. The Day of Departed lunar eclipse, my friends! A rare, rare eclipse!" His excitement was contagious, and I couldn't help but feel a little awestruck by the entire experience.
"The rarest Yin-Yang eclipse," I murmured, my eyes scanning the strange atmosphere in the exhibit. Dr. Saunders nodded enthusiastically, his arms wide as if embracing the magic of the moment.
