Song in title- It's Quiet Uptown
by Lin-Manuel Miranda Phillipa Soo, Original Broadway Cast of "Hamilton" & Renée Elise Goldsberry
—~~••~~—The dimly lit safehouse hummed with tension as Harumi sat bound to a chair, her wrists shackled behind her back. Yet, she showed no signs of fear. Instead, she laughed, the sound smooth and mocking.
"Oh, how the tables have turned." Her eyes gleamed with amusement. I stood with my arms crossed, watching her, but saying nothing.
"Yeah, your plan worked," Dareth piped up from behind me. "We got Harumi. Now what do we do?"
Nya folded her arms, thinking. "What if we use her for trade? Our friends in Kryptarium Prison for her?"
Before I could respond, Harumi smirked. "How does that make you feel, Y/n? Lloyd? That your father cares for me more than his own children."
Lloyd let out a sharp breath, shaking his head. "My father cares for no one, Harumi. Not you, not us. Only his thirst for more power. He won't trade anything, least of all for our friends."
I gave a small nod in agreement. "We'll hold on to her until she's valuable to us." My voice was even, but inside, something twisted uncomfortably.
Harumi leaned back, completely at ease despite her restraints. "My generals have been here before. It's only a matter of time until they find me."
"Found something in her belongings," Skylor announced, stepping into the room. She tossed a small bundle onto the table, a collection of notes, maps, and what looked like a communicator.
Mystake stood behind her, her gaze heavy with meaning. "I think you need to see this." Harumi grunted, twisting slightly, testing the limits of her bonds.
"Go. I'll keep watch over her," I said, waving the others off. Lloyd hesitated for a moment before nodding, following Skylor and Mystake into the next room.
The door clicked shut, leaving me alone with her. The silence stretched between us, thick with unspoken words. Then Harumi spoke.
"Do you want to know something?" Her voice was light, almost teasing.
I exhaled sharply. "Uh, not really." I didn't even look at her. Something about this felt... familiar. A twisted déjà vu clawed at my mind. Like I'd been in this conversation before.
But she continued anyway.
"I replaced you."
My entire body tensed. I swallowed, keeping my expression neutral.
"I replaced you," she repeated, savoring every word. "When I first met you and told you I always wanted to be like you? That wasn't a lie. I did want to be like you, Y/n. I wanted to be Lord Garmadon's daughter."
She leaned forward, her voice dropping to a whisper. "And now? I finally am." A sharp, invisible knife buried itself deep in my chest.
This person—this man she called "father"—he wasn't my father. Not anymore. He was something else. Something dark and twisted. So why did it still sting? Why did her words feel like a betrayal, as if I'd lost something I never truly had?
Harumi watched me carefully, waiting, expecting some kind of reaction.
I gave her none.
"How does that feel?" she pressed.
I stayed silent.
Her grin widened. "Ha! You can't even speak."
I let out a quiet breath through my nose, finally looking at her. "I couldn't care less, Harumi." I kept my tone cold, unreadable. But something nagged at the back of my mind.
