Chapter 3

The waiter responsible was sweating bullets. What sort of bad luck was this. He should have checked his horoscope before leaving the house today.

The woman in front of him was Xi Man. Her father, Xi Biming, owned a well-known construction company and was a good businessman. But his smarts were only useful for business and had nothing on raising a child.

Xi Man had been spoiled since little and had developed a bad character because of it. She was a person that liked to show off and throw her weight around. Her background served as a good shield.

She was a frequent customer of Tia. She often visited with her 'girlfriends' and they always occupied a particular private room in Tia, which happened to be the room Yu Yuan and her assistant were currently using. When she was informed that the room was unavailable, Xi Man felt like she had lost face in front of her girlfriends and she couldn't wait to drive out the occupants to establish her superiority.

The waiter was currently facing a dilemma. He couldn't afford to offend Xi Man but the other guests were VIPs. Honestly, anyone that could use that particular room was most likely someone who couldn't be bought off or offended. What to do now!

Suddenly, Xi Man advanced and pushed the waiter out of her way. The waiter not wanting to hurt her could only give way. Xi Man barged into the room.

Upon entering, she scanned the occupants. Xi Man recognized Qin Si because had seen him many times in banquets.

Qin Si was well known as the assistant to the mysterious investor. Like many, Xi Man also assumed that the mysterious investor was a man. Therefore, when she saw Yu Yuan, she immediately assumed Yu Yuan was one of the opportunists who wanted to reach the investor through Qin Si.

Her facial expressions worsened as she stared are Yu Yuan's face. How can someone as lowly as a bed climber be more beautiful than she?

Then, she sneered, "I thought Assistant Qin was hosting someone important. Turns out it was someone lowly. Assistant Qin better take care not to be used as a stepping stone by others"
"Even worse, by a frog at the bottom of a well", she added after glancing at the numerous dishes laid out in front of them.

How could Qin Si not understand what she meant? Xi Man's words just implied that Yu Yuan's final aim was the big boss behind him and that Yu Yuan was an uncultured person who couldn't restrain herself in the presence of mere delicacies.

The main problem was that if he could understand, so could Yu Yuan.
Yu Yuan looked at Xi Man and thought to herself, with this braindead attitude, it was only a matter of time before she brought misfortune to herself and her father.

Yu Yuan didn't order all these just because she wanted to fill her stomach. As a major investor in Tia, it only made sense for her to inspect and ensure that quality was upheld and that included the chefs and their cooking.

From the looks of it, their food might be good but their service was lacking. It seems like she needs to have a word with a certain owner.

Assistant Qin who was paying attention to Yu Yuan's expression thought, Not good!

Yu Yuan finally opened her mouth, "I should thank this Miss today. Your words and actions have shown me what it truly means to be uncultured. It would seem I have a lot to learn from Miss..."

Assistant Qin quickly supplied her name, "Xi Man!"

As expected of Boss. She hit right where it hurts. Miss Xi just spoke with disdain and contempt, but the person her words were directed to didn't even know her name. She must be infuriated now.

"You!" Xi Man quickly turned red in anger at Yu Yuan's words.
She just tried to belittle a person but the person in question didn't know her name or possess a reaction to what she just said. It was like thinking that you were superior to a person only to realize that the person thought lowly of you as well.

Trying to save face, she quickly turned to Assistant Qin and ordered, "I want to use this room. Leave."
Her attitude showed that she looked down on Assistant Qin and thought of him as a mere assistant that could be ordered around. What a joke! If she had paid the slightest attention to the banquets she had attended she would have known that even the big bosses had to give Assistant Qin some face.

From this, it could be seen that her eyes and brain were for decoration and her father had failed in raising her.

Thinking she still had the upper hand, she looked at Yu Yuan smugly imagining how embarrassed she would be when asked to leave.

Assistant Qin stared at Xi Man as if he was looking at a braindead person.
"I'm afraid that isn't possible Miss Xi. We got here first and we'll only leave when we are done," responded in a severe voice

Xi Man's eyes bulged in disbelief. This man didn't recognize who was truly important. Just as she was about to respond, the manager rushed in. She had been attending to other affairs when she was informed of the situation.

On her way, she hoped things hadn't gotten too bad, but when she heard Assistant Qin's voice she knew the situation wasn't good. Who didn't know Xi Man's attitude? She must have offended the guests somehow.

Trying to salvage the situation, the manager appealed, "Miss Xi we apologize but this room is currently unavailable. Allow me to show you another one that is just as good as this one."

Catching the mocking looks on the faces of her 'girlfriends' who tagged along to watch the show, Xi Man felt angrier and embarrassed. Not wanting to remain there further she threatened, "Just you wait!"

She stormed out of the room without waiting for her lackeys. None of them followed her either. Who wanted to be the punching bag that faced her anger. They were not her true friends anyway. They only followed her for the benefits they received.

The manager apologized, "We are very sorry for the disturbance. I'll ask the waiter to add more dishes. Please accept our apologies."

"You can leave," Yu Yuan answered not accepting or rejecting the apology.

The manager knew she was in trouble but could only leave to avoid worsening the situation. She thought, I'd better admit my wrongs in advance to the Boss and see if that can reduce my punishment.

After the manager left, they turned their attention back to the dishes.

Luckily they were still warm else the manager would have another thing to worry about.

About an hour later, they were discussing the true reason for their visit.
