"Say that again. I think I misheard you."

Yu Yuan, who suddenly had gained a fiance, went to her parents to announce the news. That disbelieving voice just now came from her mother, who was almost sure it was April fool's day.

When she encouraged her daughter to date more, she didn't mean that her daughter should bring a fiance home. And what was this she was hearing? Huo Wei? Was she dreaming, or was she sober while her daughter was dreaming?

Even Yu Heng was in the same state of disbelief.

Yu Yuan looked at her parents. She had expected this to happen. A person in their right mind wouldn't believe her unless they witnessed how it happened.

"It might seem a little rushed but it's not that unbelievable. I've met Huo Wei a couple of times and we grew closer at each of our encounters. We developed good feelings for each other and decided to give it a try. It's a little impulsive but we are serious about it. I'm letting you know and I want you guys to meet before our wedding this weekend."

Seeing that her daughter was truly serious, Feng Mian opened her lips but couldn't find the right words to say. She turned to her husband for support.

Yu Heng was calmer. "Let's agree that this marriage is happening, what will you do if things end up for worse? The Huo family is complicated. Even if Huo Wei has an iron hold on it, there are still a few dissenting voices waiting for an opportunity to strike. It's troublesome to get married to that household. I've also heard of how Huo Wei is to the opposite gender. Do think he's capable of creating a happy marriage with you?"

Hearing him ask this, Yu Yuan knew he was beginning to accept her marriage. "The problems in the Huo family are not enough to stump me. Plus, you just said he has a firm hold on his family. Nothing will happen. As for whether our marriage will be successful or not, we have already made arrangements for either situation that occurs, so you don't have to worry about it."

Yu Heng sighed. He knew Yu Yuan was very independent. Once she made a decision, it was near impossible to change her mind. At least he never had to worry about her since she was more capable of taking care of herself.

Now that things were like this, they could only accept it even if they were taken off guard.

"Fine. Bring him to meet us."

"Darling!" Feng Mian protested.

Yu Heng patted her hand. "We can't change her mind, and she's already an adult who can make her own decisions. We can only support her and hope things work out well."

Feng Mian sighed, "Fine."

"Thanks, Dad."

Yu Heng waved his hand in exasperation. "Don't thank me. Just bring your fiance here. Let's get to know him. If you've decided on him, he's probably not as bad as the public says."

Yu Yuan hugged her parents. She knew they would support her decision even though it seemed like a bad idea. They trusted her enough not to pressure her to change her mind, which she was thankful for.

Huo Wei was deep in contemplation when Assistant Lin arrived at his office.

Assistant Lin was feeling a little anxious because his boss had summoned him.

This kind of thing would be considered normal, but Assistant Lin has worked with Huo Wei long enough to be able to catch a few cues on his mood from just the tone of his voice. And just now, his boss sounded a little like something serious had happened.

On his way, Assistant Lin had exhausted all the options on what could have gone wrong, but none seemed to fit. Perhaps he had made a mistake in carrying out his duties? That didn't seem possible, either. He was always careful in performing his tasks.

Assistant Lin faced his boss with slight trepidation.

Huo Wei stared at him for a while, making him feel like he had really committed a grave mistake before finally asking a question, "Assistant Lin, you are married, aren't you?"

Assistant Lin was taken aback before the answer came to mind. "Huh... Yes. Yes, I'm married."

"You met your parent-in-law before marriage?"

"Yes, I did," Assistant Lin answered, wondering where this was headed.

"I heard that it's a good courtesy to buy gifts for your in-laws on your first visit. Can you tell me what items are recommended as gifts?"

Assistant Lin's mind went blank for a second. President Huo wants recommendations for items to gift to one's in-laws? Whose in-laws?

But as a qualified assistant, he quickly regained composure and fired off a list from an article called "Top Ten Gifts That'll Turn You From a Son-in-law to a Biological Son," which he had found on a particular website tailored for men who wanted to steal other families precious daughters.

Huo Wei nodded in approval before instructing him, "Clear up my schedule for the next few days and push important appointments forward. I'll be visiting my in-laws very soon and getting married to Miss Yu on Saturday."

This time Assistant Lin's years of experience failed him, and a crack appeared in his composure. "Yes, Boss," he answered with great difficulty.

"Create time on my schedule for a visit to the jewelry shop as well."

"Will do, Boss."

Assistant Lin hadn't gotten far from the office when a complicated expression appeared on his face. President Huo was getting married to Miss Yu? He knew Miss Yu was special but wasn't that a little fast? Who should he commend? Miss Yu for being so charming, or President Huo for moving at the speed of lightning. Sigh! Forget it. He couldn't guess the thoughts of the rich.

Much worse than Assistant Lin in keeping composure was Li Na.

"Grandaunt Yu!" She exclaimed before remembering she was in a public space. Judgemental looks flew in from fellow diners at the restaurant.

Today they had decided to meet at a nearby restaurant for brunch and catch up. They hadn't even ordered their meals when Yu Yuan dropped the bomb.

Li Na learned her lesson and tried to be calmer. "How did this happen?"

Knowing she couldn't avoid talking about it, Yu Yuan narrated the story.

Li Na looked at her best friend in admiration. "Yu Yuan only you can do this. Go on a blind date only to bag a proposal. Only you." Then, her admiration turned to worry, "But..."

Yu Yuan held her hand across the table. "No buts. I'll be fine. Plus we have an agreement that'll be binding."

Li Na sighed. "I still can't help but worry. I mean there's his family too. How are you..."

Yu Yuan cut her off, "I know of all your concerns but I'm still telling you that I'll be fine."

Li Na examined her best friend for many years. When she saw that Yu Yuan was very confident, she had no choice but to believe her. Maybe things will work out well. Yu Yuan was very smart. She could take care of herself.

"So, what next?"

"He's coming with me to meet my mom and dad. We'll do that before going to the Civil Affairs Bureau on Saturday."

"Uncle and Aunt agreed? I thought they'd try to stop you."

"They know they can't. Hence, they can only support me."

Li Na knew that her friend might look gentle and amiable, but she was very stubborn. It was difficult to sway her once she decided on something.

"I always thought I'd get married before you, but here we are. Will you hold a wedding party?"

"Of course."

Li Na thought of something thing and giggled mischievously. "I can't imagine the look on Gu Meiling's face when she hears of this. And to think she accused you of trying to seduce her fiance. How does he compare to Huo Wei?"

Yu Yuan smiled, but her smile had a dark edge to it. She hadn't forgotten about the things that happened at the reunion party. Gu Meiling would surely get what was due to her.

The two ordered their meals and spent some time at the restaurant before parting ways.
