The party was in full swing, and nearly everyone was seated. Some were eating while others were playing catch up with their friends.

Yu Yuan sat with Li Na and chatted with some people she used to be familiar with, but later, she made her way to the balcony of the private room.

The room was noisy, and it seemed no one noticed her departure until Li Weizhe joined her.

Yu Yuan turned her head to see who had arrived. She nodded a greeting at Li Weizhe, intending to mind her business after that. She thought her intentions were clear, but Li Weizhe didn't want to let her be.

"Yu Yuan," he started. "After these years, you don't seem like you've changed a bit. But you look more beautiful than I remembered you to be."

"Thank you."

"No need to thank me. I'm just telling the truth. I want to apologize on Gu Meiling's behalf. She has been spoiled since she was little. Therefore it's inevitable that she behaves without courtesy sometimes. I hope you didn't take it to heart.

Yu Yuan nodded, "It's fine. I don't think it's a huge deal.,"

"It's good that you didn't take it seriously." After he said this, he moved closer. "How have you been all these years?"

"My years have been good."

"Really? Where do you work now?"

"I don't work under a company, but I do some freelance from time to time." This was true. Yu Yuan owned shares in many profitable companies and freelanced as a consultant for huge businesses occasionally.

But those words were understood by Li Weizhe as Yu Yuan lacking a stable source of income.

"Is that so? Well, if you need any help, you can contact me. I work at JK company and I have an influential position there." When Li Weizhe said this, it was very difficult to conceal the smugness in his tone.

He put his hand in his pocket and withdrew a card, which he handed to Yu Yuan. She took it and glanced at it. JK company? They could barely afford her fees.

"Thank you, but I don't think I'll need your help."

"Yu Yuan, you don't have to act uncaring to protect your pride if you need help. At least not with me." At this point, it wasn't difficult to discern his motives.

If it were a naive woman, she would have been moved and developed positive feelings for Li Weizhe. But this was Yu Yuan.

Yu Yuan raised her eyes to stare at him. During their conversation, Li Weizhe gradually shortened the distance between them like a predator stalking his prey. How disgusting!

She took a few steps back to put some space between them.

"First off, I haven't been feigning indifference. I don't care about your offer because I don't need it. Secondly, we're not close enough for me to rely on you in any way or form.

After hearing her words, Li Weizhe still had a faint smile on his face, but her next words made his smile completely disappear.

"Lastly, Li Weizhe you have a fiancee, don't you? Why don't you act like it and stop trying to disgust me? The air became foul the moment you opened your mouth."

Yu Yuan extended her hand that held his card. "Here's your card. I accepted it out of politeness but now it irritates me."

While her hand was extended, when they heard a shrill* voice. "Li Weizhe, what are you doing here? I've been looking for you." It was Gu Meiling. Once she approached them, she caught sight of Yu Yuan, and her eyes blazed.

"Yu Yuan, what are you doing? Are you trying to seduce my fiance?" She asked loudly, trying to attract attention. People heard her loud voice from the room and quickly gathered to see what was happening. Many of them had been on standby waiting for the opportunity to watch some drama.

Yu Yuan glanced at the melon-eating crowd and smiled mockingly. "I'm not trying to do anything to your fiance. I think the two of you are a match made in heaven and I don't care for your fiance. He's not worthy. I was only trying to return something useless I accidentally picked. But since you are here, you can accept it on his behalf."

With this, she shoved the business card to Gu Meiling and left before she could say anything.

Someone with sharp eyes quickly recognized the card. "Isn't that Li Weizhe's business card? I got one from him earlier."  As one of the people trying to curry favor with Li Weizhe, he had felt very happy when he managed to snag a card from him. Therefore, it was imprinted in his memory.

Once he said this, whispers arose from the crowd. If they guessed right, Li Weizhe must have tried to approach Yu Yuan, but he was met with failure. Not only did he meet failure, but he was exposed.

Amidst the whispers, Gu Meiling heard, "I heard that he had a crush on Yu Yuan in high school. Who would have thought that he wasn't over it yet? But he had a fiancee now. How embarrassing."

Gu Meiling's face turned green, and she angrily squeezed the business card. She sent a fierce glare to Li Weizhe and stomped out.

Li Weizhe's face wasn't looking good, either. He just faced serious embarrassment, and his reputation in front of his former classmates had been damaged. He wouldn't have eagerly given out his card to show off if he had known.

Even worse, he had to coax the major cause of this mess. He couldn't afford to offend Gu Meiling yet, as he still depended on her family in some places.

After leaving the scene, Yu Yuan felt hungry and went to where the food was. Since she got here, she only had wine and some water. On her way, Li Na found her.

"Yu Yuan, I heard something happened. Is everything alright?"

"Hmm. It was nothing serious."

"Really? Why did I hear that you almost got into a fight with Gu Meiling? Did she come to bother you again?"

"It was her fiance that came to me first. He had some bad intentions."

Yu Yuan didn't say much but Li Na could guess what had happened. She scolded them indignantly, "Those two are shameless!"

"It's nothing," Yu Yuan concluded, and she changed the topic. "Were you able to speak with Zhang An?"

A slight blush appeared on Li Na's cheeks. "Yes. He still remembers me. We were talking when I heard something had happened."

"Oh. Did I ruin your good event?"

Li Na responded, "Of course not. What are you saying?" She refuted, but the blush in her cheeks became deeper.

"Don't let me disturb you any further. I'm fine now. You can go back."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. I just want to find something to eat. Shoo..go on."

"Fine. I'll go."

Li Na had barely gone far when she heard a loud crash and exclamations behind her. She quickly turned to see what had happened.

She saw Yu Yuan standing and looking coldly at a man before her.

Li Na recognized through the uniform that he was a waiter. He stood before Yu Yuan with his head bowed, apologizing profusely. On the floor, there were frspilledts of glass and spilt wine. She could also see a large wet patch on Yu Yuan's dress.

What transpired was obvious. The waiter had crashed into Yu Yuan, spilling wine on her dress in the process.
