-Blaine-

I met Luka's father.

He wasn't what I expected him to be, and he wasn't what I expected a father to be like.

The way I met him was rather..unconventional, however. I was dozing off lightly in the living room when the front door was suddenly kicked open, followed by a guttural yell and hearty laughter.

"Ahahaha!!" I was so startled that I almost tore Matcha apart. It was scary. The front door bursting open reminded me of how the basement door would be kicked ajar by Father and his friends.

Out of the corner of my already bleary vision because I was panicking and breathless, I saw Luka entering the room, and I wanted to sob. I held Matcha tight, pushing my face into its soft body.

I didn't hear the conversation the two had, but the next thing I knew, Luka was softly coaxing me to stand up. I definitely trusted him more than Matcha, so I let go of the penguin and hugged him when he stretched his arms out to me. I closed my eyes in fear of seeing that weird, gruff man again, but luck wasn't on my side.

"Blaine, you okay?" Luka asked softly, seemingly worried.

I lowered my eyes. Even after so long, I was still caught up in my past. How pathetic was that?

"Really sorry about this, my boy." The deep voice startled me again, and I jolted upright, noticing a middle-aged man behind Luka. They both had the same red hair, but different eyes. Luka's was brighter.

"Whuh.." I let out a distressed, confused noise, quickly looking back at Luka for help. Was the man going to hurt me?

Luka turned his head and said some things I couldn't catch, but I watched as the middle-aged man scratched his chin with a sheepish, almost sulking expression, before sauntering away.

"Precious, I'm so sorry. I forgot to tell you that my dad might sometimes just come into the house. Did he scare you?" Luka gathered me into his arms and sat me down on the couch. He picked up Matcha and stuffed the penguin into my arms, but I couldn't help but notice his expression of childish jealousy as I hugged it tightly.

"T-That's your dad?" I mumbled softly. The man seemed rather young for someone who had a kid as old as Luka.

"Well, he's not my biological one. It's kind of complicated, but he's my adoptive dad. Remember Leon and Eli? Leon's his actual kid. In a way, I'm Leon's brother, so Eli is my brother in law."

My head whirled with all the extra knowledge I was getting, and I couldn't help but stammer. "Oh, n-no...my reaction just now was s-so stupid!"

It was Luka's dad we were talking about!! Over the past few weeks, Luka had introduced me to drama shows, and in the romance ones the parents would always write a cheque and tell the girl to "Leave my son"!

In the midst of my panic, I realised that Luka was laughing. "I think I've been introducing you to too many dramas, hehe."

"N-No! Your dad's here! What do I do, oh lords..stop laughing!!" This stupid, stupid man!!

"Sorry, sorry..." Luka cackled out, holding me tight. "It's just funny to me. Don't worry, okay? Aiden is gonna love you."

"Is..that your father's name?" I willed my heart to slow down, taking deep, slow breaths. "Why do you call him by name?"

"For starters, he's not really that old. He's in his late forties. He's also not my real dad, and I usually only call him "Father" when we do work together." I sighed tiredly against him, resting my head on his chest. "You work together?"
