Kuina left Itachi's room that day with many worrying thoughts, in which she decided to sleep through it all, not wanting to think through them.

The sun soon rose above the canopy of trees, setting alight a new dawn. Her eyes snapped open as she knew that day was the day Hidan was due to leave for his mission with Kakuzu. It was a day they would fall to their doom.

She rubbed her weary eyes with her fists as she curled herself in her bed. Perhaps, she should go out there and give her last effort to stop them from walking straight to their deaths. Or, perhaps, she should just go out there and lie to Hidan, so he could leave for the fight with a clear mind.

Her brows furrowed as she shook her head. She didn't have the courage to face Hidan again. She was afraid of him, and after all, he had tried to kill her. Even though it pained her as a Fragrance, who had seen his life, to see him leave, she couldn't bring herself to face him ever again.

Maybe it was better if she didn't show up to see him off to provoke him one last time.

With that thought, she pulled the blanket over her body as she squeezed her eyes shut, trying to force herself to fall back to sleep

Within the utter silence of her room, she could hear Hidan's bitter voice conversing with Kakuzu from outside the door, and their footsteps, as they soon left the hideout. Her heart sank, knowing she had let them go.

She clenched her fists. It wasn't her fault. It was destiny's fault. She couldn't do anything about it even if she could see the future; she could only follow the stars that had already been written.

With that, she lay still, trying to drift off to sleep to escape her worrying thoughts. But before she could, more commotion from outside of her room jolted her awake once more.

"Don't worry, I'll look after her, no problem!" Deidara's voice exploded from outside before he let out a loud chuckle. "What's with the long faces, guys? Don't you guys trust me? I'm strong enough to be in the Akatsuki, you know, so naturally, it could be said that I'm competent enough to look after the Fragrance. Stop underestimating me already."

A hearty laugh which sounded like Kisame's followed suit. "Well, then, you better keep to your words because if not, you'll face not only our wrath, but also leader-sama's. . ." he threatened Deidara before he trailed off. "Hm? What's wrong, Itachi? Why do you look so concerned?" he questioned, altering the topic.

"Is the Fragrance still not awake?" Itachi's deep and stoic voice pierced the light atmosphere, turning it tense.

After a brief silence, Kisame grunted, "I don't know, I suppose not,"

"I see," Itachi muttered a reply, his voice lowered.

Kisame then blurted out into a laugh. "What's with this expression of yours? You want her to come see you off or something?"
