WALKING DOWN the hall to my locker and I notice Steve standing near Nancy's locker, waiting for her to arrive. I assume that Nancy and Barb would probably show up together since Barb decided to stay after and wait for Nancy.

I open my locker to get my books when I feel like someone is burning their eyes into the back of my head. I turn around and, sure enough, Steve Harrington is staring at me. I raise my hand and give a small smile and he returns with a small smile, as well, until I see Nancy walk down the hall and to her locker. No Barb in sight.

I watch as Steve approaches Nancy and startles her. I watch as they talk for a bit and then I decide to make my way over there. As I walk over, they pull into a kiss. It felt like someone had stuck a kitchen knife through my chest and turned it 360 degrees, then proceeded to cut my limbs off one by one. I quickly walk past them and make my way to my first class, deciding that I will just ask Nancy about Barb later.

My first two periods pass by quickly and then it's on to history. I'm one of the last students to make my way into class so everyone is pretty much in their seats. I notice Nancy in her seat looking a bit disheveled, staring at the empty seat beside her. I walk behind her and take my seat. She turns around to face me.

"Have you seen Barb?" She asks, immediately.

"Nice to see you too, Nancy." I reply, smugly, "No, I haven't seen her. I assumed you guys would've shown up together."

Nancy looks confused.

"Why would you think that?"

I also look at her, confused.

"Because, she told me she was gonna wait for you, since she was your ride?"

Nancy furrows her brows and turn back around. I tap on her shoulder and she turns her head slightly.

"Hey, I'm sure she's fine. Maybe she just wasn't feeling up to it today."

Nancy nods her head and then looks back upfront.

The lunch bell rings and I leave my math class and make my way towards the exit doors. On my way there, I see Jonathan looking into the cafeteria. He stares for a moment and then starts walking away. I speed up to try and catch him.

"Jonathan!"

I start walking faster.

"Hey, Jonathan!"

Jonathan stops at the door to the photography room and turns around.

"Oh, (Y/N)."

I walk up to him.

"Hey Jon, how are you?"

"I'm okay," he sighs, "As okay as I can be right now."

I nod my head.

"Are you developing some photos?"

Johnathan starts to shuffle nervously.

"Um, yeah... yeah. For, uh, for my mom."

I nod my head and squint my eyes a bit, ready to call him out on his bullshit, but I decide against it, considering what his family is going through.

"Alright, well, you look in a rush so I won't bother you any longer. Let me know if you need anything."

"Yeah, for sure." He says and then enters the classroom.

Unsure of what to do for the rest of my lunch period, I walk around the halls aimlessly, until I bump into a familiar face.
