WE THROW up for what feels like forever into the toilet, then I flush the toilet and lean up against the wall. I then slide down the wall and lay on my back on the cold tile floor, throwing my legs up and resting them on the open door of the stall. I hear Steve groan and I look up at the roof.

"The ceiling stopped spinning for me." I say, "Is it still spinning for you?"

I wait for a moment, then hear Steve reply.

"Holy shit. No." He says, "You think we puked it all up?"

"Maybe. Ask me something. Interrogate me." I say in a botched Russian accent.

Steve chuckles.

"Okay. Interrogate you. Sure." He says, "Uh... Have you ever been in love?"

I sigh and think. Sure I have, I'm in love with you, idiot.

"Uh... I don't know... maybe?" I say.

"Oh, c'mon. You gotta give me more than that." I hear Steve say.

"Well, there was one person, but I don't know if you could even count that since we weren't even together."

"So, like, a crush?" He asks.

I sit up from my laying position on the ground and lean back on the wall, one leg propped up and the other on the floor.

"I guess you could call it that." I say.

"Anyone else?" He asks.

"Well, I love my family and friends but I'm pretty sure that's not what you're asking about." I say and I hear him chuckle, "And no, I don't think so."

"Have you ever been in an actual relationship?" He asks.

"Yeah," I say, "But they didn't last, obviously. They knew I was hurting and wanted to take advantage of that."

I hear him sigh.

"Are you still hurting?" He asks me.

"At this point, I don't think the hurt goes away. I just learn to deal with it." I say.

We both stay silent for a few seconds and then I speak up.

"All right, enough about me! It's your turn." I say to him.

"Okay. Hit me." He says.

"Have you... ever been in love?" I ask.

"All right, going with the same question, I see." He says.

"We have to keep it consistent." I say, giggling.

"Okay, well, yes. I have been in love. Nancy Wheeler. First semester, senior year." He imitates a gunshot sound then chuckles.

"God. That feels like forever ago." I say.

"Hm." He replies.

"Are you still in love with Nancy?" I ask, not really wanting to know the answer.

"No." He says and I feel relieved.

"Why not?" I ask.

There's silence for a moment, then he speaks up.

"I think it's because I found someone who's a little bit better for me." Steve says.

I stay silent and listen to him speak.

"It's crazy." He says, chuckling, "Ever since Dustin got home, he's been saying, 'You know, you gotta find your Suzie. You gotta find your Suzie.'"
