ClumsyOtter: because Dashi told you she would buy you actual work clothes rather than frilly pink stuff if you went instead of her

CarrotQueen: do I just pick up random bits of kelp and stuff??

CarrotQueen: I think I might be a bit behind the level of science knowledge I should be on

ClumsyOtter: there shouldn't be any kelp around here so just pick up bits of slimy leaves on the sea floor
ClumsyOtter: you've been in the Octonauts for how many years and you can't even identify a piece of seaweed
CarrotQueen: I'm sorry I'm just really dumb :(
ClumsyOtter: you're not dumb
ClumsyOtter: science just isn't your thing
CarrotQueen: science is the furthest away from my thing you can possibly get XD
