Libra POV

Statera was a Realm that had a King and Queen.

I knew that much.

I exhaled and rubbed the palm of my hand onto my eyes. Almost a day since we'd been here, and I was still confused, our encounter with the royal couple ringing through my mind.

They'd been so nice . . . but Archer wasn't their son. An emissary, he'd claimed, then whisked off to go find his girlfriend.

Strange.

Now we had a whole wing of the castle to ourselves, and they had soundproof walls. I was secretly relieved that I couldn't hear Scorpio's music pounding into my ears, however muffled it might be.

I sat up straight on my bed with a grunt. Statera was a kingdom Realm. The entire Realm was split into kingdoms -- large kingdoms. And King Carlisle and Queen Rihani were Ursa's allies.

When was the last time I'd seen Ursa, anyways?

I pinched the bridge of my nose, focusing my thoughts away from that. There were several dresses sprawled at the foot of the bed -- that was another worry generator.

They'd also called a ball for our arrival.

A ball.

When I was little, I was obsessed with princesses and their castles and dresses and tea. I had always wanted to attend a fairytale ball -- and that was what Statera seemed like. A fairytale kingdom.

Apparently the other three kingdoms would be coming too.

I gulped.

Selaine stuck her head in, the door creaking slightly. "Hello? You're Libra, right?"

I looked at her and nodded. She was pretty -- long red hair cascading down her shoulders to stop at her middle back, blue eyes the color of the sea. "Yeah. You're Selaine -- Archer's girlfriend."

Her face split into a wide smile. "You remember me! Yay. Mum and Dad told me to review all you girls on the customs of the ball."

"Why the girls?" I asked curiously, registering the empty space behind the princess. "And where are the others?"

Selaine cleared her throat nervously. "Mum said all the girls because Archer's taking all the boys on a tour of the castle, so she suggested that I teach you. Also -- pardon me for saying -- you seemed like the one that . . ." She shifted uncomfortably in the doorway. "I could become friends with the most easily, you know?"

I perked up. "Really?"

She nodded, still slightly embarrassed. "I was going to go Zodiac order, but . . ." She looked around, then held her hand up as if she were whispering a secret. "That Aries girl is kind of scary."
