Chapter Six: Heart Monitor
Chapter Song: I Can't Go On Without You by Kaleo

I tapped my pencil rhythmically against my thigh as I sat Indian style on my bed, intently staring down homework. Dare I say it, but homework was the only thing keeping me sane. I had called Lydia several times, but she was still so frazzled from the 'mountain lion' incident at the video store, she could hardly hold a conversation. Thankfully, the house was quiet enough for me to focus. Mom had gone off for a shift at the hospital while Scott had gone off to Allisons—at least that's where he tried to tell me he was going. I still hadn't spoken with him. And unfortunately for me, Scott was too stupid to understand why I was giving him the silent treatment. Downstairs, the front door bust open and slam shut, Scott's feet thumping up the stairs while he called out my name soon followed.
"Hayley!" Scott swung my door open, terror flooding his features.
"Screw off, Scott." I grabbed a throw pillow beside me and chucked it at him. Scott failed to catch the pillow as it hit him square in the face.
"Hayley, listen to me!" He panted. Aggravated, I hopped off my bed and shoved Scott out of my room, slamming the door behind me. While I walked back to my bed, Scott opened the door once again and rushed over to my windows, closing and locking them.
"What the hell do you think you're doing? Get out!" I shouted. Scott grabbed my wrist and began dragging me into the hallway and towards his room. "Get your dirty little dog paws off me." I spat as I struggled against his grasp.
"I know you're still mad at me, but I'm trying to protect you, you need to trust me." We finally entered Scott's dark room and he quickly locked the door behind us.
"Trust you?" I laughed. "After you told Allison how old I really am? After you saved her instead of Stiles' dad? He could have gotten killed, Scott! Oh, and let's not forget how you defended her family after seeing what they did. What's next? Are you going to tell her how we're not actually related!" I snipped. "Should be a nice, interesting conversation explaining how your sister isn't actually your sister." Scott frantically closed his window and shut the blinds, peaking out them a couple of more times before turning his lamp on. A loud gasp escaped both Scott and I's mouth. Sitting in Scott's armchair was none other than Derek Hale.
"You seriously need to stop doing that!" Scott yelled, trying to catch his breath.
"Your stalking has no boundaries, does it?" I put a hand over my heart, feeling the pounding rattle against my chest.
"So, what happened? Did he talk to you?" Derek casually asked Scott. My eyes narrowed.
"Did who talk to you?" I questioned.
"Yeah, we had a nice conversation about the weather. No! He didn't talk!" Scott cried, ignoring my question.
"Hey! I'm supposed to be the one ignoring you." I barked. " Who did or didn't talk to you?"
"The alpha." Scott informed, causing my brows to rise.
"Did you get anything off of him? An impression?" Derek asked.
"What do you mean?" Scott wondered. Derek rolled his eyes, getting up from the chair.
"Remember your other senses are heightened. Communication is spoken. What kind of feeling did you get from him?"
"Anger." He stated.
"Well, that's no surprise." I commented.
"Focused on you?" Derek asked. Scott paused to think.
