At night, Crowley was still in the coliseum. 'This was not a lost but it's not a complete victory either.'

"Hello, Mr. Crowley. It's been quite a while." An old mage like Merlin the wizard greeted him.

"Ambrose the Sixty Third! I didn't expect to see the headmage of Royal Sword Academy today!"

"Hoh hoh. The sight of youths engaging in friendly rivalry is a lovely one indeed. Royal Sword Academy is taking home another victory this time."

"Ohohohoho~"

Ambrose got startled by the laugh and looked around trying to find its source.

"Behind you~"

He looked behind him and saw a young H/c with a smug grin. 'How did I not sense them?!'

"Mister Ambrose LXIII, wasn't it? enchanted~" They offered him their hand.

He was reluctant at first but shook it. "Y/n M/n L/n. Headmage Crowley's personal assistant."

Ambrose looked at them, trying to gauge them.

"Well, I don't know what happened before but for my first year, we got a draw with your school. Hm~ I'm looking forward to the upcoming interscholastic Spelldrive games in May. I can't wait to outplay- oops~ I mean play with you."

"Royal Sword Academy has earned ninety nine wins there already." He informed.

"As I said, I wasn't there so it doesn't count for me. The past is in the past and my gaze is fixated on the future."

He looked at their eye which was a clock and felt uncomfortable "...By the way, Mr. Crowley... I've been picking up traces of large-scale magic all over the coliseum."

"And?"

"The sheer volume of magic was far beyond what would get used in a practical magic exam. What in the world transpired here before the VDC began?"

"Ah~ That would be my fault~"

Ambrose looked at them. "See, I don't come from this world and I was practicing time magic to find a way home. My magic tends to be so powerful sometimes that even the most trivial spell could be murderous with me~"

Ambrose shivered 'Just how strong are they?' "I'll be taking my leave now. Have a good night."

...

Y/n chuckled "He ran away from me~"

"You sure did put him in his place. Great work today, Y/n." Crowley patted their head as they smiled.

Y/n's pov

Back in the residence, it does feel a little empty without them around. I'm not against having my personal space back but I don't mind if they get into it...

I let Grim go to bed as I finished taking my bath. Then my clock appeared in front of me 'Weird. I didn't summon it...'

The hands turned quickly as the surface became more reflective '...A mirror!'

Light spread from it, making me close my eyes. I reopened them to see the famous mouse.

"Mickey!"

"Hiya! Top of the evening to you! It's been a while. How've you been?"

"Bad then good then bad again but now I'm good."

"Your life seems complicated..."

"You have no idea. I can now control time but I have to be careful or I'll cause a disaster. Going back to before I came here is also complicated and would mean leaving people to suffer. But I still need to find a way back."

"Hm. Speaking of time, I wonder how long it's been since we last met. Then again, maybe "met" isn't the right word. I only see you in my dreams. I've been trying to get back to this dreamland ever since, you know. I've tried wearing the same pajamas, reading the same book before bed, you name it! But nothing seems to work. So how come I made it here tonight? I didn't do anything special."

"I don't really know how it works either. Maybe it's destiny that brings us together for a precise reason that we just haven't figured yet."

He giggled "That would be funny!"

'I still don't know what world he exactly comes from but I'll need more intakes.' I summoned the ghost camera "Mickey, may I take your picture?"

"Sure, absolutely!"

"Say cheese!"*Snap!* *Brrrm*

"How's it look?"

"Awesome. I'm sure somebody could help me then."

"Ha ha! That really is a nice photo! I wish I could have a copy... Oh, wait. I wouldn't be able to take it back with me from dreamland, would I? Either way, I feel like you and I are closer than before now. I can see and hear you more clearly. It's like the only thing separating us now is a single pane of glass."

I tensed up when he knocked on the surface.

"What's wrong?"

"N-No, nothing, sorry. It's just that clock/mirror is really important to me so my body reacted on its own when you knocked on it."

"Ah! Sorry! I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."

I chuckled "It's okay really. I like talking with you."

"Hm. We're getting to talk longer, too. Maybe one of these days, you and I could watch a movie together! Do they have movies in Twisted Wonderland? I'd love to watch any of your favorites. I sure wish Donald and Goofy could join us here in this dreamland... If they found out I had a friend here, oh boy, I can just picture the look on their faces!"

"Oh! Why don't I present you to one of my friends?"I smiled but it immediately dropped as I felt no presence 'He's not here... I've been too focused with Mickey to realize it.'

"What's the matter? You're lookin' a little pale there."

"Grim is missing, I gotta go find him!"

"Oh no! I wonder what happened? I wish I could help, I really do. But I can't cross over to your side. You'd better go find your friend fast! I'll see you later, Y/n."

Lion ears and tails appeared on my body as I picked Grim's scent and followed it... to the coliseum.

"Grim!" I made sure a wave of my voice would echo so He could hear it.

I then heard a noise nearby. *Scritch scratch, scritch scratch*

"There... Theeere it is... Nyeh heh, nyeh heh heh... It got buried when they fixed the stage, huh...?" *Chomp chomp, crunch crunch* "Rrr... That's the good stuff... Rrr... Rrr..."

I heard his voice so I went toward it to find him.

"Who's there?! Grrr... This is MY stone! RAAAWR!"His eyes lost their pupils as his flames looked more menacing and he bared his fangs at me.

...

"Grim?" He only growled at me.

He is not himself anymore.
