"You do the oddest things when I am not around." Hoseok's voice reached your ears suddenly, making you turn your head behind only to see nothing.
"Oh, my God! Yukio I think I got a signal or something. I heard his voice!" You uttered aloud enthusiastically and Yukio stood from the couch happily and approached the circle but made sure not to come too close to it and ruin it by mistake.
"That's great!-Wait, you don't have the petal in the water though? How did you hear his voice?" She stated her wonder and you looked back at the glass of water, realizing that you were not feeling the current of wind like prior and your petal was off the glass even though still in your hold.
"Oh? Maybe that's why it was only a sentence. I will try again." You grabbed another petal quickly, making Hoseok purse his lips to not laugh too much as he had returned but was in his ghost form and thus invisible to your eyes.
He could just make himself appear as per usual, but strangely enough, he couldn't help but find the situation as something he could get some fun out of.
"Hello? Hoseok? Can you hear me?" You talked once you had placed the new petal on the glass and one of his tails was blowing some air against your knuckles, giving you the impression that it was working again.
"Y/N? Is that you? From where are you speaking to me? I don't see you." He made his voice sound distant and echoing while he slowly brought himself before you and squatted down just to have your face in his view. The way your face seemed to light up from delight after hearing him, had him tilting his head to the side while he was observing you fondly.
"Don't ask, I can't explain. Just where are you? Are you okay? Do you need help?" You bombarded him with questions as your worry took over your face and his gaze softened after he noticed it, for his heart started burning.
The days that you had passed together in his first life, were still freshly lived for him and that gaze felt as familiar and common as it felt nostalgic for you used to look at him with care and worry every time he would have ended up doing something you could have considered dangerous.
How different things would have been if he in that life would have known that you held more than friendship feelings for him? If you had back then realised your feelings before his death, would you two have lived happily? Hoseok couldn't help but wonder momentarily. How would a life of being loved by you have felt like?
"Yes...I need help...I have never been in a worse position Y/N." He admitted while he gazed at you with despair and as his echoing voice rang in your ears, you felt your chest growing heavy at the thought of him going through something you couldn't even imagine, just because of you.
If only you could have been more careful with your thoughts, Hoseok wouldn't have been now in trouble with the Goddess in charge of him.
"Is there a way I can help you out of there? I will do anything- It's my fault after all. I didn't mean to keep anything from you, I swear. I was just-" You held your tongue as guilt started taking over you and Yukio took some steps back again as she felt like you needed your privacy.
Hoseok didn't reply and his silence made you think that the petal had run out. Despite the fact that it had held longer than the previous ones. You rushed to change it, with a feeling of anxiety rising in you as you were hoping that you wouldn't have trouble connecting with him again.
"Y/N" He uttered your name softly, making you freeze your actions as you had yet to place the new petal on the water, but you had still heard him. The fact perplexed you for a minute but soon your eyes grew wide at the realisation and you lifted your head to stare at the nothingness before you.
