A FEW MINUTES LATER

"Wanna go get lunch?" Dash proposed as you two left the main room. Sunset Shimmer concluded that she ended up exactly where she started with all these experiments: knowing nothing about anything.

"Sure."

"You're driving." You glared, immediately sending her into a panic. "I'll pay!"

You snickered. "Kidding, I really don't care. I'll pay and drive."

"No, I'll pay. I want to."

"You paid at the bowling alley." Dash opened the front doors to the school, letting you walk out first. You slowed down after making it outside so she could easily catch up.

"Yeah, it's fine. What do you want to eat?"

we've had burgers and nachos   —"...Pizza in my car? I don't really know any sit-down restaurants with good pizza."

She smiled. "Pizza it is."

INSIDE [YOUR NAME]'S CAR

"And, I was researc- Oh, sorry." You and Dash had reached for the same slice.

The square pizza box was balanced on the center console in your car, a liter drink of your two's choices in the cup holders. Dash decided to try the restaurant's new fizzy water but you went with regular water.

Before driving to the pizza place, you stopped by your house to grab your laptop so you two had some form of entertainment outside of conversation. Currently, it was balanced on the instrument panel, a show neither of you have seen playing.

She let you have the slice, picking the one adjacent to it. "So anyway, I was reading old school news articles and stuff about the old Friendship Games and CHS has never won?! Like, ever, we're a laughing stock!"

"That's... unfortunate." It was depressing, really.

"I know!"

"But if the Friendship Games aren't even until junior year, why are you so worried about it now?" Ever since you two found an empty parking lot, she had yet to stop complaining and even mentioned her temptation to trespass onto Crystal Prep Academy's property and see what makes them so much better than CHS.

"Because you have to know your opponent before you can beat them?" she laughed, as if this was obvious information.

Dash took a sip of her fizzy water. "Are you signing up?"

"No." Her expression softened.

"...Princess."

"Don't-" Dash proudly laughed- "call me that. You took me out on one date. いち."
- Ichi. → One.

She played with your hands as she whined, "But we ate from the same nacho bowl! We're eating from the same pizza box!"

"For convenience." Dash sadly mumbled as she lay her head on your shoulder.

Watching her through the rearview mirror, you noticed her eyes look down. She let go of your left hand and grabbed your right with both hands.

"Jeez, your nails are sharp." Her thumb ran over each of your nail beds. "And long."

You nod. "That's how they grow." They've always naturally had a rounded stiletto shape.

"But they weren't like this before we got here."

"Yes, they were."

"No, they weren't."

"Dash." You knew your hands.

"Princess." You stared at her; she stared at you.

"...Let go of my hand." She laughed, knowing you were joking.

this is so comforting, though   —"You should sign up."

"I'm not signing up. You, your friends, and the other six who make the team will be perfectly fine."

"I want my girlfriend to play with me..." she sulked.

"I'm not your girlfriend."

"Then will you be?" You paused.

"...No." Dash immediately sat up, her eyes wide and her mouth hung open.

You laughed, wiping away the pizza crust crumbs on her lips. "Take me to dinner first."

"I already did!"

"No, I took myself out. You just happened to be accompanying me." She whined into her hands.

"But anyway," You had a question to ask, "are you getting your license? Or a car? Not that I mind this, this is really cute and casual, just wondering."

"I want a motorcycle." She moved her hands just enough so you could see her eyes. "But, yeah, I already have my license. I got it the day after my birthday since we were out all night. I just forgot to tell you."

"That's risky. You can't drive a motorcycle all year long."

"Well, my dad barely uses his car, so he offered it to me. That's the one I was driving, I just like catching rides with my friends more."

"But I can start riding with you~ ...if you don't mind."

You shrugged. "Passenger Princess."

"I'm not a Passenger Princess. Stop." You laughed.

"What about a job? All this money is coming from somewhere."

"Eh," Dash made an inconclusive noise. "My parents just give me 100 dollars every month as allowance, but they did say it'd be good if I start looking for a job now because they want me to start being independent."

"Are you?"

"...Eventually." She smiled, "You should put in a good word for me at Champ Zone."

"No, you wouldn't work with me there."

"Yes, I would! I'd work in the summers so sports don't get in the way."

"Do you have a résumé?" She shook her head.

Your eyes softened. You supposed she's endured enough of your teasing. "I'll help you make one."

She gasped. "Really?!"

You nod. "Probably during Spring Break, though. I don't feel like doing it now."

Dash grinned, "You're coming over?~ Is that what dinner is about?"

"No." You flicked her forehead, making her laugh.
