WEEKEND
11:53 AM

"Welcome to RD's Magic Training!" Dash smiled as she stood in front of you. She let you have a calm morning before her theatrics.

You smiled, "Do you often refer to yourself as 'RD'?"

"...No, not really - Anyway: Día Uno!"

You softly laughed at her Spanish, but not because it was bad. Dash is actually pretty good at figuring out how to pronounce something in a language's accent. The humor was in the fact that she hasn't been in a Spanish class since last year. Like most people, she only did the required two years of a world language to graduate.

"Today, and until you succeed, we will be working on transforming!" She took out a whiteboard. There were two doodles of you on the surface: one with your ears and one without.

"We wanna get here." Dash point to the depiction without ears. "Preferably by the end of next week. I'm really starting to worry you might get a heat stroke."

"I'm fine." She ignored you, setting her board down.

"I personally don't have this kind of transformation. I can't.. necessarily control when I do and don't pony up, but I can feel it, and we've all learned to sort of stall it if we absolutely had to."

"But even when you're asleep, your ears stay, they just fold back." You nod.

"So, anyway, do you feel any different? Voiding this all of.. the emotional damage," she sheepishly smiled, "do you physically feel different?"

You thought for a second. "...I'm kinda tired all the time, and.. my head is heavier, and I get hotter faster."

She hummed. "Maybe you're running out of magic... or you're draining yourself." Dash motioned for you to give her your arm. She looked at the hoshi no tama.

"...It was brighter the other day- days, but you can't actually die. I think you're just tired from a constant.. flow of magic, but not because you're running out."

"Do you feel tired if you're ponied-up for too long?"

She shrugged. "It's never been more than 5 minutes."

Dash gently held your face, examining you. Her thumbs eventually pushed your top lip up so she could see your teeth. She glanced at your hands. "...You're more wild too, like a predator. Your nails and canines are naturally sharp but they're even sharper now."

foxes are pretty low on the predator list, in terms of terror, that is   -"Bite down on my finger."

"Really?- What does any of this have to do with magic?" She was inspecting you more than coaching you.

Dash scoffed with a smile. "Well, I need to assess what I'm dealing with, Princess." You smiled as you rolled your eyes. You slowly bit down on her thumb.

"And what does this assess exactly?"

"Your jaw strength. You eat differently too, more effortlessly."

you're saying i eat like a wild animal   -She took her hand back. "And you don't even know how strong you are."

Your eyes widen when blood started trickling from her thumb. "Dash!"

"It's fine!" she laughed. "It's like a paper cut. It didn't even hurt."

"Paper cuts hurt-"

"Anyway," she interrupted, "get up and go find a.. non-restricting outfit. We're meditating."

You sighed. "Meditating?"

She nod. "I think you're too stressed to detransform, like you're in fight or flight or something. You don't notice it but your ears are folded back when you're not occupied, which is a sign of stress in animals. You start thinking too much when you're just sitting there."

"Dash, I just want to wake up and they're gone."

"Should've asked Princess Twilight then." She grabbed your arms, pulling you up. "I'm not the magic pony."

"Well, I didn't... I didn't ask you either."

"Which is why you should be thanking me. I'm messing up my entire schedule for you." You groaned at you, once again, taking priority in Dash's life.

Opening your closet, you found a large tee and some black spandex. Shortly going to the bathroom to change, Dash was already in loose clothing and was in the same attire when you returned.

"Where did you get a mat from?" This was about the only thing that changed. You set your folded clothes on the bed. "Actually.. where did you even get the whiteboard from?"

"...You don't remember?" You shook your head.

Her eyes looked you up and down. "We went to the store. You did stay in the car.. but you don't even remember being in the parking lot yesterday? I know you were awake." You shook your head.

"...'Kay..." She gently held your wrist, guiding you to the mat.

You sneered with a smile, "Don't treat me like an old lady now."

Dash matched your attitude as she sat down, "Don't lose your memory then."

"It's probably just the magic. Celestia said I can't remember other dimensions because of the amnesia I get from traveling. It's.. like a built-in don't-go-insane mechanism. I would overload myself if I had memories of other me's."

"Yeah, but you're not traveling, so you shouldn't have amnesia." You supposed you could understand her concern.

"Cross your legs." You have a strong habit of sitting on your calves.

You didn't see 'crisscross applesauce' as rude as your father does - albeit, your relationship to this memory of a man was now questionable - but it did stay in the back of your mind to not sit like that if there were other options.

"Do you have to meditate like this?"

"No. As long as you're comfortable and your mind is clearing, it's meditation."

"Then we should lay down."

"No. Does your back feel strained?" You shook your head. "Your hips?" You shook your head again.

"Close your eyes." You abide. Dash's warm hands put your hands on your knees.

"We just sit here now. Think of everything but you're current situation, but if you have to.. try to find solutions or something. Don't just sit there and be sad."

"And you can count your breathing if you want. It might keep you distracted, but don't make it a competition. Relax."

"ん."
