Time Skip, just a bit:

Arther's coronation. Only three days after the death of King Weiss and Queen Lusine.

Lord Malcoy had insisted that the throne shouldn't be left empty for too long. Arther said he was worried he wasn't ready yet. Lord Malcoy told him that if he didn't want to be king, one of the noblemen could... perhaps even himself, Lord Malcoy as king.

Suspicious.

I took my assigned position by the coronation stage. Prince, soon-to-be-king Arther walked over to me.

"Hey, you don't have to stand there for the three hours." He said.

"It's my duty." I said in response.

"Hey, c'mon. Go sit comfortably in the audience. It's okay. Maybe... you can even go sit next to Aedan." He winked.

My face flushed, but I kept my poker-face.

Arther smiled at me.

"Go on. Aedan's probably gonna be bored." He said.

"I.... Are you sure?" I asked.

"Yes. Actually, I quite insist." He gestured to the seats.

I bit my lip, contemplatively.

"Karise, just go sit with my brother already!" Arther laughed.

I let out a small smile.

"Alright, if you're sure."

"I've been saying that several times!" Arther rolled his eyes teasingly.

He looked at me with serious eyes.

"Go on, I mean it. Make my brother happy." He said.

I blushed, nodding. "I will."

"You two are complementary. I will seriously kick someone if you two don't get together." Arther said, eyes twinkling.

"I—It's not like that!" I cried out.

"Sure." Arther said in amusement.

"I—It really isn't!" I protested.

"You two act so much like a couple though, holding hands and sleeping together in the same bed, and also, you know, just being together every single second—"

"It's not like that!" My face was red.

"Okay, okay! Now... Just go already!" Arther said.

I shot Arther a look (who knew he was so teasing?!) and finally went to sit by Dan.

He smiled up at me, patting the seat next to his. I sat down wordlessly. Dan took my hand and squeezed it.

"You two act so much like a couple though."

Arther's voice rang through my head.

I exhaled.

"You okay?" Dan asked me. God... His voice is so sweet— nope, not the time.

I smiled at him. "Yeah. I didn't know your brother was so annoying though."

Dan laughed. "Arther is annoying sometimes." He agreed. "He's so mature and a dependent older brother, but sometimes he feels like my younger brother. He can be teasingly annoying, but.... That's Arther."

I nodded.
