"Jeanette, raise your hand."

The said girl winced when she heard her name being spoken out loud, cursing internally.

Why me? There are plenty of free seats available today.

That was true. Almost half the class were missing - it was a flu season.

"Jeanette?" her teacher raised a brow at her.

She reluctantly held her hand up in the air.

And the new boy strolled over to her desk, claiming the seat on her left. With a loud thud, he put his bag to the side of the desk and sat down, turning around to look at the girl who looked no near as happy and enthusiastic as the boy by her side, who was now grinning cheekily at her.

She looked away.

"Hi! I'm Oscar."
