Everyone looked up as Tony came flying around a corner, the huge Chitauri monster flying right behind him, slamming through a building as it did.
"I don't see how that's a party," Natasha said as the monster crashed to the ground, the asphalt breaking up underneath as it did, tearing through cars, signs, and stoplights as it did.
Banner turned and looked at the monster, knowing what he had to do.
"Dr.Banner. Now might be a really good time for you to get angry" Steve said.
"That's my secret, Captain. I'm always angry" Banner said, as he walked toward the monster, hulking out as he did.
With just his fist, the monster came to a screeching halt, all of its weight picking up, causing it to flip over to its back.
Seeing it about to crush all of them, Tony flew over.
"Hold on!" he shouted, sending a small missile into an opening on the creature's back.
Steve pulled Natasha and Daphne toward him, blocking the charred remains of the creature from spilling over them.
The head of the creature fell to the ground, crushing a couple of cars as it did.
The Chitauri that remained on the buildings turned and looked at the loss they had just taken and let out a loud horrible screech.
Daphne stood next to her brother, still holding the alien's gun as Tony landed next to her.
Everyone stood together in a circle, ready for whatever was coming next. They knew their fight wasn't over.
Looking up at the portal, two more of the creatures came through, followed by even more Chitauri soldiers.
"Call it, Captain," Tony said.
"All right, listen up," Steve said, facing the group. "Until we can close that portal up there our priority is containment. Barton, I want you on that roof. Eyes on everything. Call out patterns and strays. Stark, you got the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back or you turn it to ash."
"Can you give me a lift?" Barton asked, looking at Tony.
"Right. Better clench up, Legolas" Tony said, grabbing Barton before flying him up to the top of the building behind them.
"Thor, you got to try and bottleneck that portal. Slow them down. You got the lightning. Light the bastards up" Steve said before Thor wielded his hammer and headed up to the top of the tallest building near them.
Looking at Natasha and Daphne, Steve gestured around them. "We'll stay here on the ground. We keep the fighting here. And Hulk..."
Hulk turned and snarled at him.
"Smash."
With a smile, the Hulk jumped up, grabbing onto the Chitari and tossing them to and fro.
Seeing more heading toward them Daphne held up the gun, shooting the ones that were headed toward her.
