By the time Daphne and Bucky arrived at the DRC headquarters, the place was flooded with police and other armed forces. There were bright stadium lights propped up and NYPD helicopters were the only things allowed in the air.
"I'm almost there," Sam said through his comms.
"What's the plan?" Bucky asked.
"Karli's gotta be close. Keep your eyes open" Sam said.
"There's a million people here. Anyone of them could be working with her" Daphne said as they walked through the crowd.
"Sargeant Barnes" one of the officers greeted as they walked through the police barrier.
"Wow, it's like I'm invisible" Daphne scoffed.
"We have the same last name, he coulda been talking to both of us," Bucky said.
"Yeah, I don't think so Sargeant," Daphne said.
"Guys, FYI, I called in some backup," Sam said.
"Who?" Daphne asked.
Before Sam could reply, a voice called out from behind them. "Excuse me. Are you supposed to be here?"
"Are you?" Daphne asked.
The man quickly took off his hat and revealed he was wearing a Widow's veil. "It's me," Sharon said.
"Sharon, what the hell are you doing here?" Bucky asked.
Daphne got a weird feeling being around Sharon. She never trusted her. Not even when she was living across the hall and going by Kate.
"Relax. No one's looking for me here" Sharon said.
"Do I hear Sharon?" Bucky asked.
"Unfortunately" Daphne sighed.
"Hey, Sam. I thought I'd get the band back together" she said.
"Thank you. You're risking a lot coming here" Sam said.
"I hear pardons aren't all they cracked up to be," Sharon said.
"Depends on the therapist," Bucky said.
"This is all really sweet but can we focus? I don't think Karli's doing all these because she wants to have a peaceful talk" Daphne said.
"They'll move on the building soon. Be ready" Sam said.
The three of them split up as they kept an eye on anyone who looked suspicious. But with the trust issues each of them had, everyone looked suspicious.
