I turned a blind eye on the wound on my wrist, still sprinting through the forest with 67. We finally managed to catch up with 32, which was a huge relief. The world around me began to spin due to how exhausted I felt, so the fact that I could finally catch my breath was pleasing enough. I kept breathing heavily to the point where I began to probably hyperventilate. The ground felt weirdly soft to walk on, which immediately concerned 67.
-Oh? You okay? -They didn't actually require an answer to know that I indeed wasn't, it was more of a rhetorical question.-You know you could have just asked me to carry you? I really couldn't care less. -They explained in their usual warm tone that this time was partially filled with distress as they still had to make sure not to lose 32 out of their sight. Without waiting for my response, they casually lifted me into their arms.
-That's way better. -I thanked them, happy to get a moment of rest that I so desperately needed at the moment.
The cat's speed began to suddenly decrease, letting us know that wherever it wanted to lead us, it wasn't too far away.
-Fucking finally! Now give it back. -32 yelled out as the cat entered some extra-ordinary dense bushes.-Don't think you can hide from me now, you motherfu— His sentence was suddenly cut as he peeked through the leaves. He didn't even bother to fully enter them, whatever popped in front of his eyes, was enough to silence him which wasn't an everyday thing in his case.
I gave 67 an alarmed, yet anxious look as we both carefully approached the bush right after him, trying not to make any unnecessary noise.
I froze. I felt the sudden feeling of stress filling me from the inside, making me nauseous. I tried not to show it, but the sudden uneasiness was clearly visible by my body language. My eyes were stuck in one place, I was confused, yet still terrified.
In front of us, there was a hammock hanging between the two trees, with a well recognisable creature. Brownie approached the entity, carelessly throwing the broken piece of portal onto the ground.
It was another partygoer, laying on the hammock while reading a book as if it was nothing. They didn't seem to notice our presence at first, yet after a few seconds they suddenly turned their head in our direction, causing me to flinch. Even if I already got used to spending time with these venomous entities, it was stressful to see any unknown partygoers. I couldn't be certain if they weren't a danger and the fact that I lacked my partygoer's disguise in the frontrooms was only adding up to that fear.
-Who even are you?! -32 was too irritated to hold a decent conversation, even with someone of his kind. He carefully leaned towards the luminous object the cat so carelessly put onto the ground. -Listen, I don't fucking care who you are, we are just going to take that and go. -The partygoer jumped off of their hammock and grabbed away the glowing piece of portal from 32. Their silky white skin immediately directed my full attention towards them, as well as the disturbing fact that they lacked their left arm. It got completely torn away. I was amused, their unusual characteristics were genuinely pretty and unique for a partygoer. They seemed clean, it looked as if they really cared about their appearance. Or at least that they put more thought into it than any regular entity.
-Perhaps I could let you take it, but that would significantly abate my chances of getting out of here, 32. -They elegantly stated in a calm yet petulant tone. They had a female-like voice, it was smooth and quiet although it could swiftly transform into an obscure and incapable of understanding mess.
-How do you know who I am? -He folded his arms, gazing at them in a displeased manner.
-It's not that simple to explain. -They suddenly pointed with their one claw at 32, taking a deep breath.-You should be deceased, but you are not.-They said as they turned their sight at 67.-And you shouldn't even be here in the first place. Along with... whoever that is. -They finally noticed my presence. Their eyes directed on me sent a shiver down my spine.
-I still have ABSOLUTELY NO FUCKING CLUE who the FUCK are you!-He shouted to which the partygoer tilted their head in disbelief. They sighed, probably wanting to slap him in the face.
-Does a specific number "37" make you think of anyone? -They asked as 67 immediately ran up to them, pushing 32 onto the ground. A sudden excitement filled their voice with a beaming feeling of joy.
-Is that actually you?! -They kept waving their claws, happily.
-Finally an entity without a gap in their memory. -They stated, sending 32 a death stare. Normally it was 32, who was threatening everyone around him so seeing him get treated the same way he treated others, made me smile.
He finally got up, shaking the dirt off of himself.
-What happened? -He asked. The amount of confusion coming from his voice was almost bizarre. I wouldn't normally judge anyone for it as I knew that if I spoke I would sound the same, but since it was 32, it was okay.
-It is a greatly long and complicated story. -They stated, still keeping a serene voice.
I approached them closer, curious about what 37 had to say. Knowing that it was someone they knew, I felt safer. I still didn't trust this partygoer, but I was certain that if anything bad was about to happen, 67 would protect me. The partygoer didn't seem to hate me that much after all, they mostly chose to just ignore me so what were the chances that they would change their mind so suddenly?
-So will you start already, or not? -32 growled impatiently, which made them finally snap in fury.
-[???] -They tried to scream at him, but their voice got all mushed up and distorted to the point where it was impossible to hear any actual words. They kept trying to yell something, but noticing that they can't be understood, they gave themselves a few seconds to calm down.-As I was about to say— They tried to continue, but 32 laughed at them.
-At first one thing didn't change. -32 didn't want to give up his attitude.
-Let them fucking talk! -67 sent them a violent stare, signalling that it was about the time to finally shut the fuck up. In response, he just looked away with his arms folded as if he was an angry child whose parents didn't agree to buy any more candy.
-Much better. -They were suddenly calm again. It took me a while to realise that their reason to stay this serene whenever they wished to say something, was because if their voice was affected by their emotions; it was completely incomprehensible. I could only wonder how difficult that was in their everyday life, especially when they currently had 32 next to them.
-Can you continue? -67 couldn't wait any second longer, they were already overflowing with impatience.
-I shall. -37 sighed, trying their hardest not to burst into anger again. We all kept ourselves quiet, giving them room to tell their tale. -I disappeared from the backrooms, forasmuch as I was teleported into this place. My cooperation with Major Explorer Group ended with me accidentally locking myself in the incorrect dimension.-They made a pause to collect their thoughts once again. -You require my help, and I require yours in order to travel back. I suggest we shall collaborate. Me, 67, 32 and... -They looked at me, confused as to what they were supposed to call me. -...And this partypooper. -They took a step towards me, analysing my whole appearance. My heart seemed to skip a beat out of fear. -To my knowledge, you do not exist. However, I will turn a blind eye on this for now. You shall explain it to me later.
-What about the cat? -32 asked as he picked up the cat into his arms, gently patting its head.
-Oh, the cat? -They had to think about it for a second. -Oh right, the cat. It belonged to you. In the universe that we are currently present, you owned it before you died. I suppose you can reclaim it as yours again.
-Before I died? -He tried to understand as much as he could, it was too confusing for all of us.
-I shall clarify that in a moment. As for now, we should go back to "your" house. There's plenty more to converse about. -They removed their hammock from in between the trees and handed it to me. -As you might have noticed, I can't hold two items at once so you better serve me. -I panicked, taking the hammock into my shaky hands as they picked up the broken piece of portal.
