Chapter 56

Me and Rhea are sat in the lobby of the IVF clinic waiting to been seen by the doctor, We didn't have to wait long before be a doctor " Mrs Bennett?" a middle aged man with grey hair called " you ready" Rhea stands up offering me her hand " yeah" I say nervously and take her hand and we walk into the doctor's office. 

" please take a seat" he says shutting the door, he sits down in front of us and does some things on the pc. " let me just quickly introduce myself, I'm Doctor Gerrard Conway and I will be the one in charge of your appointments and and everything that will happen from here out" he smiles " Demi" Rhea says offering her hand to shake which he accepts, " Lucy" I say doing the same. " great so who will be the one carrying?" he looks between to two of us " that would be me" I chuckle " okay, do you know how this treatment works?" he asked " we know the basics" Rhea informs him.  " okay great,  this type of IVF is called Reciprocal IVF, so basically. Demi as the biological mother ,you will go on some medication to collect your eggs, once the eggs have been collected, then they will go on to be fertilised with the sperm and then frozen to create the embryo's. Then once that is successful, Lucy as the birth mother the embryo's will be transferred to you in hope of then becoming a child" he explains with a sweet smile " okay cool" Rhea smiles and I just nod. " firstly though, we will need to do an ultrasound scan just to see how fertile who ladies are, which we could do now if you have the time" he again looks between the two of just " yeah we have time" me and Rhea say at the same time and then we all chuckle " okay great" if you guys come with me then we can get it done" doctor Conway smiles and we follow him to the scan room and have the scans done. Once that is doone we head back into the office " right now that is done we will see who is the most fertile, I know Lucy is the number one birth mother, but I have to ask. Demi if you are more fertile than Lucy, are you willing to carry or is it just Lucy?" he asked " oh, we haven't thought about that" Rhea chuckles and she turns to me to see what I have to say " well it's up to you, if there's a higher chance it could happen with you then I'm happy to play the opposite role, but I understand if you don't because of your career. The choice is totally up to you, there's no pressure to say yes" I do my best to reassure her.  Rhea takes a minute to think " yeah, I will carry if needs be" she says " okay great, so what we happen now is that once we have done the test, I will call you and then we will arrange an appointment and go from there" he smiles, we say our goodbyes and leave the office. 

We're in the car driving home when Rhea's phone rings " hello" she answers " Mammiiiiiii" I hear phone say through the speakers of the car and I laugh " hi Dom, Dom" she says chuckling " where are you, I'm at your house and your not in" he questions " yeah Rhea how dare you have a life without your precious Dom.Dom" Damian says laughing " I will be home in ten" she chuckles " okay Mami" Dom laughs and the line goes dead " what we gonna tell them?" I turn to face her " just say we was doing some chores" she shrugs keeping her eyes on the road. 

We pull in the driveway and sitting on the step are Dom, Damian and Fin. " hey guys" I smile getting out of the car, " took your time" Dom says folding his arms across his chest and I roll my eyes at him and then we both bust out laughing " Luce, open the door I need a wee" Fin just bouncing on the spot, I open the and let him in first and he practically runs to the bathroom." where have you guys been" Damian asked sitting on the sofa petting Barry " mind your damn business" Rhea laughs " so rude" Dom chuckles " we just had to do a few things" I say sitting next to Damian. The guys spend a few hours here, we watched Insidious 1 and 2 and ordered some food. They guys decided to stay because it got late, Fin took the sofa bed and Damian and Dom got the spare rooms. 

It's been almost a week since the meeting with Doctor Conway and I'm sitting in catering with Bailey, Bianca, Beckey and Alexa and Elliot, Lexa brung Elliot to see everyone and everyone loves him. I'm in mid conversation with Becky when my phone rings, it's a unknown caller and I think to ignore it but with everything going on I pick it up " hello?" I say " hi, it that Lucy?"I hear a man say "this is" I anwer " hey Lucy, It's Doctor Conway here how are you?" he says " oh, hey. I'm well thank you, how are you?" I say getting up from my seat and I signal to Becky that I will be back. I find a quiet place and sit on an equipment box. " I'm well thank you, I tried contacting Demi, but she was unavailable. So I rung you, I hope that's okay? have you got time to talk?" he asked. I see a minitor and see Rhea in the ring with the rest of TJD " yeah, Demi is working ring now" I chuckle " I have time to talk, I just come on my lunch break" I laugh " hows that for timing" he chuckles "listen, we have the results of the scan you and Demi did, so I would like to bring you guys in for a chat" he says " yeah, that's alright with us, just let me know on the date and we will be there" I say " okay so is Wednesday okay with you?" he asked " yeah that's fine" I say. " okay brilliant, I will see you and Demi on Wednesday" he says and the phone disconnects.

We are once again in Doctor Conway's office waiting for him, we didn't have to wait long before he walks through the door " hello Demi, Lucy" he smiles as he sits down. He does some things on the PC and the begins to talk, " so, I have the results here and it's good news for you" he smiles and I feel Rhea squeeze my hand in excitement " so looking at it, you are both highly fertile, meaning both of you are able to carry" he smiles and I face Rhea and we smile at each other. " so, I'm right in assuming we are going with plan A which is Lucy being the birth mother?" he looks between the two of us " yeah" me and Rhea say in unison and we chuckle. " okay, brilliant so I will start the medications and then we can move forward and hopefully bring you lovely ladies your bundle of joy" Doctor Conway smiles 

We leave Doctor Conway's office with all the medication we need and I feel excited, anxious and nervous and Rhea notices " you'll be okay" she smiles at me and squeezes my thigh as she's driving. " what if it does work?" I say, I don't want to be negative but at the same time, it always doesn't work the first time. " then we will try again and if that does work, I will try and carry, if that don't work, we steal Elliot" she jokes making me chuckle, I know she's just trying to put me at ease " Lu, everything will be fine, if IVF doesn't work for us we can adopt" she faces me for a second before facing the road again. I sign looking at the medication in my hand, internally praying it works.
