THAT CRAZY GIRL, Zuleen, stood up confidently in front of us. She wanted to set up our debate in a middle of the busy bus trip. Lakas ng tama niya sa utak.
"Here, I will give you an easy topic. The topic for our debate is..."
Ngumiti siya nang nakakaloko.
"One plus one."
Nagkatinginan kaming mga magkakaibigan if that's supposed to be necessary. Is that debatable?
"In this topic, your side will defend that the answer is always equals to two while our side will defend that it may not. Is it clear for your deficient brains to comprehend that?" Explain niya.
"Bakit 'yan 'yung topic?" Tanong ni Ehseng.
"Well, alam kong 'yun lang ang alam niyo kaya iyon ang naisipan ko. Baka binomial nga, hindi niyo pa alam." Pangmamaliit niya sa amin at tinawanan kami nung isang kasama niya. Naasar kami dahil totoong hindi namin iyon alam.
Sa kaso namin patungkol sa topic, madali lang depensahan iyon. Sinong taong hindi alam ang one plus one? Syempre, two ang sagot. Pati kinder alam iyan. We knew that STEM students are good at Math. They learned about numbers and variables, then why they were so confident na hindi two ang sagot sa one plus one? Nabutaw na ba sila?
"Bring it on, bitches!" Hamon ni Lando nang hindi nag-iisip. Palahamon talaga 'to!
"You go first." Sabi ni Zuleen.
"Sige." Sabi ko at nagbigay espasyo si Denver sa akin.
I faced them with a China brand smile.
"In our case, the answer is obviously two and it is a fact that adding one to another one will give us two. Splitting this amount will make it one half and another half. Therefore, it is exactly the amount as a whole. Kaya kapag may isang pabida at nagsama pa siya ng isang katulad niya, there's a big chance na may dalawang bida-bidang nasa harapan namin ngayon." I ended my opening remarks by mocking those two.
Naghiyawan sa tuwa ang mga tao sa paligid namin.
"Woah." Namamanghang sabi ni Denver. Nabilib ang Kuya niyo!
"Kayo naman, one plus one?" Palag ko.
Tumayo naman si Zuleen.
"As we tried to calculate it, we usually conclude that one plus one is always equal to two but it is not usually determine on its unit or presence. You are right in your defense but the number 2 serves only as an option."
Natahimik ang lahat sa kaniyang pagpapatuloy.
"You only depend on that one particular answer. And that answer is just a model of math. Didn't you think that the value of one unit compare to another unit may have been differ to its value? You cannot actually tell their practical value when you operated it throughly by combining them in regards to its elements, or certain reactions. Does it makes a sense to you? Kapag may isang tanga ang nakitsismis sa isa ring tanga, lahat ng makakarinig ng tsismis ay magiging tanga rin. In reality, it implies that 1 + 1 = 2 is not always the answer."
