"Ma'am Vivien?" tanong ko sa babaeng sakay ng BMW.
"Oh God!" she exclaimed, "Why are you out at this hour? And why are you walking alone?" she inquired, addressing each question.
It's Ma'am Vivien driving a BMW, how did she saw me?
"Galing po ako sa coffee shop Ma'am with a friend and may sudden appointment siya so iniwan niya ako," I explained. "I have money naman para pang taxi but unfortunately wala pa po akong nakikita."
She appeared deeply concerned, hastily opening her car door and walking towards me.
"Are you okay? You're not feeling cold, are you?" she inquired again, her face filled with worry.
"I'm fine, Ma'am," I reassured her.
"Please, get in," she urged.
Siya na mismo ang nagbukas ng pintuan ng kotse niya saka pinapasok ako nang dahan-dahan. She proceeded to drive, doing so slowly and attentively.
Seryoso siyang nagd-drive but she's stealing glances at me and I can sense it.
"Ms. Mercedez, don't you have a car?" she asked while stirring the wheel.
"I left it at the university Ma'am kasi pinasakay ako ng kaibigan ko sa kotse niya thinking ihahatid niya ako pero hindi na so andoon lang po."I replied.
"I'll get you there just hold on, okay?" sabi niya sabay ngiti sakin.
"Yes Ma'am"
She sighed heavily. She's very worried. Wala namang nangyari sakin at isa pa hindi ko naman siya kaano-ano for her to be like that.
Tumunog ang phone ko sa kalagitnaan ng byahe namin, malapit na kami sa university para ihatid niya ako doon. Si Mom ang tumatawag at alam ko nang nag-aalala na sila sakin kaya sinagot ko ʼto agad.
"Mom?" I said on the other line.
"It's late na anak, where are you? saan ka ngayon? worried na kami ng Daddy mo!" Sunod sunod na tanong sakin ni Mom.
"Ahhh...I'm at th-
"Give me the phone," utos ni Ma'am Vivien sakin.
Binigay ko naman sa kanya because I knew na malalagot ako and besides she's my professor so I'm safe.
"Good evening, Mr. and Mrs. Mercedez. I am Professor Suarez. I understand that you both are worried about your daughter, but she's with me right now, and I'll make sure to bring her safely to your house," she explained.
Oh my gosh, she's covering for me.
"Talaga Ma'am? Then ingat kayo ng anak ko." my dad responded.
"Thank you Mr. Mercedez," sabi ni Ma'am sabay bigay sakin ng phone.
"Thank you so much, Ma'am Vivien," pagpapasalamat ko sa kanya.
"No problem" she replied.
Nagpatuloy sa pag-drive si Ma'am Vivien, patungo na kami sa bahay ko with my consent kasi para makita ng mga parents ko na kasama ko siya as she promised to bring me there.
"Ma'am?"
"Hmm?" She hums.
God her voice.
"U-uh could you please not tell my parents kung saan ako galing at saan mo ako nakita?" I said.
She looks at me and smiled, with her dimples showing, "Of course I know that, ako na ang bahala kaya just relax, okayy?
Tumango ako at ngumiti sa kanya, hindi rin naman ako makahindi dahil sa mga ngiti niya. Bakit kaya ang bait niya sakin? Malayo ang byahe papunta samin because it takes 1hr 20 mins back and port. Malayo ang ba-byahiin niya pabalik.
