Third Person POV

The three buddies, Peat, Gemini and Fourth could hardly wait for Sunday to come. They were all eagerly looking forward to a day at the beach with Mr. Kaewbumrung.

Whenever, at recess time in school, Peat or Gemini would refer to Peat's neighbor as Mr. Kaewbumrung, Fourth would remind them that Mr. Kaewbumrung had agreed that they could call him Thanawat.

On Friday afternoon after their last class, as they were leaving school, Fourth said to Peat that his mom was going to buy snacks for everyone for him to bring to the beach.

"Oh, my mom also said that she would be baking macadamia nut cookies for me to bring to the beach for everyone," Gemini announced.

"Cool!" Peat said excitedly. "Don't be late in coming to my house on Sunday morning. My dad said we will all be leaving for the beach at seven in the morning on the dot."

"You can bet on that!" Fourth and Gemini said at the same time.

By early Sunday morning, Mr. Kaewbumrung had instructed his handyman-housekeeper to load the large icebox into the back of his SUV and the cases of beer and soda.

Gemini and Fourth arrived bright and early at Peat's house, bringing their bags of goodies.

Peat's mom placed frozen packs of peeled jumbo shrimps and pork chops and beef strips into an icebox for grilling at the beach. She also had a large plastic food container full of cut up bite size pieces of assorted fresh fruits.

Peat's dad gave Thanawat the address of the beach to place into his GPS.

Soon everyone was on their way, with the three boys in the back, squealing every now and then during the road trip because someone would suddenly tickle the other one. Many times Peat's mom had to hush them because they were too noisy and she couldn't hear her music above the noise.

"That's the beach hut that I reserved in advance," Peat's dad pointed to a beach hut close to the seashore, once they were parked at their designated spot.

In a few minutes, Thanawat's SUV appeared behind them. He parked behind Peat's dad's SUV.

"It's a beautiful resort," Thanawat remarked to Peat's dad. "It doesn't have too many beach goers. I guess it's because it's much farther away than the other beaches."

"Yes," Peat's dad replied. "The reason I chose this beach is because there are not a lot of beach goers who come here. We practically have the place to ourselves."

"Can I help you unload your stuff from your car?" Fourth offered Thanawat when he saw that Gemini and Peat were busy unloading stuff from Peat's family SUV.

"Sure, thanks!" Thanawat was pleasantly surprised at Fourth's kindness.

"Nawat, do you like drinking beer?" Fourth asked Thanawat.

Thanawat raised his eyebrow at Fourth. "Did you just call me Nawat?"

"Is that alright with you?" Fourth asked, blushing a little.

"That's fine," Thanawat replied. "That's actually the nickname that someone used to call me long time ago."

"Who was that someone?" Fourth wanted to know as he picked up one of the cases of soda.

"Someone from my high school days," Thanawat replied, the familiar feeling of hurt tugging at his chest as he recalled his ex boyfriend who was probably happily married by now.

Fourth noticed the sad expression that appeared on Thanawat's face and so he decided not to pursue the topic. Oh boy, did he have some juicy news to pass on to Gemini and Peat.

By the time everything had been unloaded into the long wooden table in the open hut, Peat's dad had already gotten the coals all red and glowing on the grilling table.

While Thanawat and Peat's dad grilled the pork chops and beef and jumbo shrimps, the three boys were already stripped down to their swim trunks and racing each other to the water.

It was close to an hour by the time that the long table was laden with all the grilled meats and juicy shrimps.

"Hon, you better call the boys to come over before the food gets cold," Peat's dad suggested to his wife.

Peat's mom was about to start walking towards the water when Gemini came running to the beach hut.

"Peat is having very painful leg cramps! He has stopped swimming!" Gemini announced frantically.

"I know how to deal with leg cramps," Thanawat announced, running towards the water where Fourth was trying to help Peat limp towards the shore.
