Lyney had always said practice was vital, and who was Lynette to argue? They couldn't afford to slip up, not even for a millisecond.
They were getting better and better, though. Lyney began introducing newer, more daring acts to the performance. One practice, he arrived with something different entirely. Clasped gingerly between his hands was a dark, spherical object that fascinated Lynette from the start.
She held out her hands. "May I?"
He transferred it gently to the cups of her palms without a word and smiled.
Lynette smiled back. She knew they could always trust each other, always.
And that's why she had to tell him that bad news she'd been carrying all day. There was no other choice. She opened her mouth to speak...
