June 23.
📍Ironshore, Montego BayI sat down in my father's front seat, after just getting my hair, lashes, wax, and nails done. I had finished my exams and he was treating me like he had promised.
Being an only child to two hard-working parents is fun. All you gotta do is be respectful and do your schoolwork and they"all spend their money on you as long as they have it.
I'm low-key a princess.
Yeah me read too much fuckry.
"Daddy?"
"Hmm?" he glanced at me then back at the road.
"You a stay when yuh bring me down?" I asked him.
"Maybe," he answered and I frowned.
My phone pinged and I opened it to check the message.
It was a text from my man telling me that I was pretty after I sent him a picture of my face and hair.
My man my man my man!
I smiled and began typing a response to his message.
"You Neva did a go up this year Dandan?" my father asked.
Him nuh see mi find a man and nuh waah go noweh.
A joke.
"Me nuh see unuh buy no ticket or say nothing about it," I shrugged.
"Yuh mother did say yuh naah go anywhere until results come out," he responded.
"Results naah come out until the 24 of August Daddy," I told him. "Wah mi must do go a farrin September when me must deh start College."
