Chapter 37

PAST TIME
Maya closed her eyes and thought for a second what she was doing there, what was she thinking? what was she about to do? But there was no way of avoiding the future, but it's better than ending up alone. Maya opened the door and walked into the Matthews' home. "RILEEEEEEEEEY" she screamed, she knew exactly Riley wasn't home. But she knew Josh would be home. Maya closed the door behind her trying not to make much noise even though she screamed. Before she could notice Josh was behind her and he got closer to her and whispered "boo" in her ear.

"Fuck you scared--" Maya could feel him breathing on her neck and turned around and saw Josh. She noticed his big brown eyes and couldn't help but smile. She hadn't seen Josh since she was a baby. She couldn't help but have a bit of hope, maybe Maya 2 was right. Josh could be her soulmate and not Lucas like her wrist said.

"Maya right?" He chuckled looking into Maya's blue eyes.
"Ha, very funny Josh. I know you recognize me perfectly." Maya couldn't help but smile at him, but her mind suddenly was set on his wrist and finding out if he had a girlfriend.
"Well how could I not recognize such a gorgeous girl?" He smiles noticing her trying to look at his wrist.

"Are you trying to look at my wrist?" He said as he smiled at her.
"Uh n-no I mean- I didn't mean to." Maya said looking down, she knew he wasn't allowed to let anyone see the name on his wrists or something bad will happen to him, but it's not like she would tell on him.
"It's okay. I'm not mad. Here." He slowly uncovers both of his wrists and shows them to Maya.
"I don't have a soulmate. So if you're trying to look for your soulmate, then it's probably not me, but assuming on the look on your face then the name of your wrist must say Josh." He said curiously waiting for an answer from Maya.

"Actually..." Maya sighed. "You're name isn't on my wrist, but the name Lucas is. But my soulmate is off with my best friend, Riley as in your niece." Maya wanted to hit something just thinking about her friend backstabbing her like that.

"I'm sure Riley didn't mean to steal your soulmate, and if he was your soulmate he wouldn't of picked Riley instead of you, he would've stayed, at least I would've." Josh got closer to Maya wanting to hug her.
"Don't be nice." Maya got away from Josh. She wasn't trying to be rude to him. She thought he was actually right but she didn't want to admit to herself that Lucas isn't her soulmate, she couldn't see anyone being better for her than Lucas.

"I'm just being honest, Maya. You're gorgeous girl you can do so much better don't you think?" He tried taking a step closer to Maya with out her moving.
"There's no way I can do better than Lucas!" She rolled her eyes. She wanted to suddenly cry and let all her feelings out. "My wrists says I can't, it says we're suppose to; get married, have kids, grow old together and die." Maya suddenly felt tears in her eyes. Maya didn't understand why Lucas didn't like her all the sudden, she didn't understand what she did wrong.

"Maya, your wrist can be wrong you know." He said calmly. Maya knew that was very unlikely basically impossible, no wrists are ever wrong, neither was her heart she felt. "Okay then tell me, who's my soulmate?" Maya said trying to not cry anymore. "In all honesty, I don't know but- you don't need a a guy to be happy." Josh said, he took a deep breath and quickly walked closer to Maya and pulled her into his arms and wrapped his arms around her.

Maya kept crying in his shoulder, she hadn't seen the guy in years and now she let all her feelings out with him. This was definitely not normal. She knew it wasn't going to last long though because even though he said she doesn't need a guy to be happy, Maya believed otherwise.
