Clarke's POV-

We trek for several minutes until camp is well out of sight. Normally, I'd be uneasy about being in dark, unknown woods in the middle of the night but if there was anyone to be here with me, it's the Commander of the 12 clans. She owned all this land, technically.

"Are we close?" I ask, huffing along to keep up with her steady pace.

"Almost."

After what feels like an eternity later, we near a lake.

We get to the sandy shore and Lexa turns to me with the same radiant, yet mischievous smile I love.

"Lexa..." I eye her.

"Clarke..." She smiles back, knowingly.

"I can't swim." I sigh, knowing the only bodies of water I've been in had been shallow enough for me to stand up.

"I'll teach you." She whispers, getting closer to me under the glow of the bright moon.

The Commander stands immediately in front of me before asking permission to remove my clean, dry clothes.

Without using our words, we both comply.

I pick my arms up as she delicately peels my shirt over my head as I unbuckle her belt and throw her many knives to the sand.

The only noise is the ripple of the water, the sound of insects in the forest, and our soft breathing against each other's faces.

She drops my shirt to the ground and unzips my pants as I help her take them off, setting them aside as well. When I finally stand in nothing but my bra and underwear, it's her turn.

I take off her long sleeve shirt first, then a black tank top she wears underneath as well as her pants. Finally, she stands in nothing but her chest binding and underwear.

I let my fingers fumble over the cloth around her chest, not sure if she wanted us to be completely exposed.

She takes my hand in hers, guiding it away from her chest as she leads me into the water.

"It's cold!" I gasp as my ankles are submerged.

"It won't feel that way for long." She reasons, already knee deep.

I take a leap of faith and follow her into the depths of the dark water, completely relying on her for support as the ground slowly disappears from under me.

"That's it. Hold onto me." She instructs as I learn to kick my legs beneath the surface while I wrap my arms around her shoulders to float.

Lexa barely seems phased by the extra weight as she effortlessly kicks her legs and uses her arms to keep us both afloat.

"You're alright." She whispers softly.

I keep my focus on the water, aware of each movement my body makes. I feel each chilling drop of water that touches me, and I focus on Lexa's warm breath and my loudened heartbeat that encapsulates the noise around us.

"See? Not so hard." She smiles.

Finally, I'm able to kick on my own, keeping myself afloat as I let my body peel from Lexa's.

"This is nice." I whisper.

She continues to smile, letting her emerald eyes sparkle.

Suddenly, there's a magnetic pull between our lips. I can't help but move my head forward, tilting my chin as it fits against Lexa's, like a perfect puzzle piece.
