Out of the Dark & Into the Light

Chapter 42 (Continuation of Chapter 38)
(Damien's POV)

I swiftly made my way towards the garage, my mind consumed with the urgency of the situation. The safety of Callie and Amira weighed heavily on my heart as I prepared to reach out to the wolves for their assistance. The thought of Alessandro, a dangerous and unpredictable vampire, arriving at our doorstep sent shivers down my spine.

As I hopped into my car, my thoughts raced, trying to formulate the best approach to present our request to the wolves. They had been the Cullen's allies in the past, but this time, it was not just a mere threat we were facing. Alessandro's arrival had the potential to escalate into a full-blown conflict, and I needed their support to ensure the safety of Crystal's family.

Driving towards the Quileute reservation. I knew Crystal had stood side by side with the wolves, fighting against the newborn army. It was moments like these that reminded me of the intricate bond she shared with them, transcending the boundaries of their supernatural existence.

Arriving at the reservation, I made my way to the familiar clearing where Crystal had introduced me to the pack. The air was thick with tension as I approached, my footsteps echoing in the silence. It didn't take long for Sam, the Alpha, to emerge from the trees, his eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and caution.

"Damien," Sam greeted me, his voice steady. "What brings you here today?"

"Sam, we have a serious situation on our hands," I began, my tone conveying the gravity of the matter. "A vampire named Alessandro, Caius's older brother, is coming too visit. He's dangerous, and we fear that Jane might be involved as well."

Sam's brows furrowed, his expression growing serious. "Alessandro? I've heard of him. It's not good news."

"No, it's not," I agreed. "That's why we need your help. Callie and Amira, my nieces, and I can't be here when he arrives. They're still part human, and I'm human and we don't need him knowing and reporting this back to his brother Caius. We need a safe place for them and me, and we trust that you and your pack can provide that."

Sam's gaze softened, understanding the weight of my words. "Crystal has been kind, respectful and helped us out on more than one occasion, Damien. We'll do whatever we can to ensure their safety and yours. You can count on us."

Relief washed over me as I realized we had their support. The bond Crystal had forged over the course of a couple months had solidified this alliance, and I knew that they would protect our loved ones as fiercely as we would.

"Thank you, Sam," I said sincerely. "We appreciate your unwavering loyalty."

Sam nodded, a determined glint in his eyes. "We'll make the necessary arrangements and keep them safe and you. Tell the Cullen's to focus on handling the threat at hand."

With a sense of gratitude and renewed purpose, I left the reservation, knowing that my nieces and I would be in capable hands. As I drove back to the Cullen residence, my thoughts shifted towards the impending doom. The Cullen's had a formidable enemy to face, but with our family united and the support of the wolves, we stood a chance.

Arriving home, I found Alice waiting for me, her eyes filled with concern and anticipation. I approached her, taking her hands in mine, and relayed the news of the wolves' agreement to watch over Callie and Amira.

"They'll be safe, Alice," I assured her with a soft smile.

My phone at that moment decided to ring, pulling it out of my pocket I saw the that it was Jasper calling me.
Answering my phone.

"Jasper, I'm a little busy at the moment, can I call you back?" I asked him.

"Sorry, but this can't wait, I need your help with hacking into Jackson's files," He told me trying to stay calm.

"What do you mean you need me to hack into Jackson's files, are you out of your mind, Jackson will kill me..." I angrily hissed out into the phone.

"Apparently, I found out he's been hiding something from Crystal, her family, and me since the '40s. Also, did I mention that I snapped his neck out of anger, and now he's lying on the ground temporarily dead."

"Jasper, what the hell man, you can't just go around snapping people's necks out of anger, and what do you mean he's been hiding things from Tally, Esme, Carlisle, and you? You know what I can't handle this right now, I'm busy, and I think Carlisle, Esme, and the rest of the family might need you back here, Caius brother is coming to visit, and he has a history of killing slayers." I told him adding on to more of his eventful day.

He became very silent, so I called out to him and asked, "Jasper, are you still there?"

"Yes, I'm still here, you know what I'm going to grab his laptop and bring it to you. I have to let you go since I have to call Carlisle next." He responded back, hanging up the phone without giving me time to respond back.

I stood there, phone still in hand, processing the whirlwind of information Jasper had just unloaded on me. Jackson, hiding secrets since the 1940s? Jasper snapping his neck in anger? There was so much to unpack, and I couldn't help but feel a mix of concern and frustration.

Taking a deep breath, I pocketed my phone and turned back to Alice, who was watching me with a mixture of curiosity and worry. "Alice, we have another situation on our hands," I began, my voice tinged with urgency. "Jasper just informed me that Jackson has been hiding something from Crystal, her family, and even Jasper since the 1940s. Jasper snapped his neck out of anger, and now he's on the ground, temporarily dead."

Alice's eyes widened, clearly taken aback by the news. "Jasper did what? And Jackson has been hiding things for decades? This is getting more complicated by the minute."

I nodded, a heaviness settling in my chest. "I know, Alice. We have to handle one crisis at a time, but I fear that these events are interconnected somehow. We need to stay focused and support each other through all of this."

Just as I finished speaking, my phone buzzed with an incoming message. It was from Jasper, and the text read: "Bringing the laptop to you. Will explain everything. Call Carlisle ASAP."

"Jasper is bringing Jackson's laptop to us," I informed Alice, showing her the message. "He said he'll explain everything. We need to get in touch with Carlisle and gather the family. This situation just took an unexpected turn."

Alice nodded, her determination resurfacing. "You're right. We'll deal with Alessandro and the imminent threat, but we can't ignore what's happening within our own family. Let's reach out to Carlisle and gather everyone in the study. We need to be prepared for whatever revelations await us."

With a shared sense of purpose, we quickly made our way to the study, ready to face the challenges that lay ahead. Little did we know that our world was about to be shaken to its core, as the mysteries surrounding Alessandro, Crystal, Jasper and Jackson intertwined, threatening to unravel the very fabric of our existence.

A/N: I hope you enjoyed the chapter. Here's another chapter with Damien's POV. I think we're getting a little closer for finding out everything about Jasper and Crystal's past together. Once we get past those chapters it'll be back to the rest of breaking dawn part 1. 😁
