"So you're going to start working soon?" Johnny asked, questioning her about her placement as soon as she mentioned what she's doing in college
"Uh yeah...like a placement though so I'll be like under supervision from an actual dentist" she said and they nodded
"Isn't it kind of weird, looking at teeth all day" Mark asked, trying his best not to show grimace in his face
"Yeah it is...but most clients are like athletes or kids getting braces" she said, shrugging, not seeming too interested in the topic of her degree
"What about you guys? Excited for the tour?" She asked and they nodded
"I'm excited for the break after" Johnny said and she smiled
"Well some of us don't get that perk" Mark retorted playfully
"Mark blink if you need help" she said, making him laugh and blink consistently in a joking manner
"Okay guys come on, let's get back to it" Taeyong said, clapping his hands to get their attention
"Go to Kira, I'll talk to you later" Jaehyun said, pointing over to Kira and Jihye came running happily, sitting on her lap to watch the dance practice at two sat in front of the mirrored wall in the middle of the room.
"Look, I made this today in school!" Jihye said, grabbing the mini sequin pool blue backpack, taking out a paper angel she made in school.
"Woah! This is so cool" Kira said, smiling at the little diy ornament she used to make when she was a kid as well
"Daddy said he'll hang it up on the tree for Christmas" she said and Kira widened her eyes, hiding the void the statement opened inside her, having it been years since she decorated a Christmas tree with her family.
"Can you help me paint it tonight? I have paint at home" Jihye asked with eager eyes and Kira agreed, high fiving her, the sound of the boys practicing in the background as she laughed and talked with Jihye, Jaehyun watching with a hidden smile.
"I can make you one too, so you can put it on your tree" she said and Kira chuckled
"I don't put up a tree" she said with a pout and dropped her jaw with sass
"Why not?!" She exclaimed as if it was the most bizarre thing she had ever heard, and it probably was
"I go back to London for the holidays, remember its where I'm from?" She said
"It's in England, where the queen lives" she said, remembering correctly and Kira laughed nodding her head
"Yeah so I won't decorate since I'll be gone for the holidays...but there's always a tree back home" she said and Jihye pouted
"But that's no fun" she said and Kira nodded, agreeing with her
"Will I show you something cool?" Kira asked and Jihye nodded. She reached for the bag, taking out a blank sheet of paper and her pencil case
"My brother showed me how to do this" she said, remembering the amount of times she bugged her older brother to teach her how to do the design again and again. She started folding the paper and cutting off bits she didn't need as Jihye watched with furrowed eyes
"What are you doing?" Jihye asked as she drew the outline the way she had remembered
"Since I don't put up a tree, I cut these snowflakes to stick on my window instead...when I was a kid my brother used to decorate my window with all these snowflakes so when I wake up there would be 'snow' falling" she said with a smile, and Jihye rested her chin on her hand
"Does it not snow in London?"
"Not every year" she answered her constant questions
"It doesn't look like a snowflake" Jihye said, watching her cut the paper intricately and she chuckled
"Okay, close your eyes" Kira said and Jihye excitedly covered her eyes with her hands, giggling as she waited for the surprise while Kira unfolded the paper snowflake neatly, making sure not to rip its thin pieces
"Keep your eyes closed and put our your hand" Kira instructed and she abided by her orders regardless of the excitement.
"Open your eyes" Kira said, placing the snowflake on top of her hand before she opened her eyes, them only getting wider the second she saw how beautiful the design was
"Its so pretty" she said in slight awe
"Do you like it? You can keep it" Kira said with a chuckle, and before she could stop her, Jihye was already on her feet running towards her dad to show him the cut out snowflake, disrupting the group from a practice run of their choreo
Jaehyun immediately stopped his movements, lifting her up into a hug and distancing himself from the group, shooting a small look of apology but no one really blamed him, they were just tired but it was a kid after all, his kid. Yet Jaehyun showed no signs of anger to his little girl as she excitedly told him about the paper snowflake and he walked over to Kira
"Jihye, why don't you and Kira go make some more snowflakes at home?" Jaehyun suggested and Kira started to pack up her things, clearing the floor from the cut pieces of paper
"I wanted to make them with you" Jihye said, slightly disappointed and Jaehyun pinched her cheek
"I'm not good at it, Kira is much better!" He said, and eventually she nodded, letting him set her down before she stood by Kira's side, holding her hand innocently
"I'll probably be home a bit late again, hopefully it's not as late as last time" he said with a somewhat apologetic smile and she nodded
"It's okay, I'll put her to bed" she said, bowing to him again before turning around to Jihye and walking her out of the practice room
"It's friday! Can we watch a movie" Jihye asked and Kira nodded. Jaehyun sighed as he watched the two walk out hand in hand, grateful that Kira was there to keep Jihye company but silently wishing it was him instead.
"I also have a present for you" Kira said, their conversation slowly dying out with the distance
"What is it?"
"It's a surprise"
