"You okay? You look a little pale" Eunhye asked and Kira nodded, switching off her phone before turning her face back to her laptop, trying to avoid the girl's intense gaze.
"Don't you have to go soon to babysit?" Eunhye asked
"He's sending a driver" she said and Haerin widened her eyes
"Be a good friend and refer me to him!" Haerin whisper shouted and Kira smiled, nodding.
Kira packed up her bag and left the second she received a text from Jaehyun daying the driver was waiting outside. She hopped into black car with tinted windows, gaining a bit of attention from the neighbouring students but no one really cared enough to make a scene.
"Hi, I'm Minho" The driver stated, quickly introducing himself and she introduced herself back, the rest of the ride being extremely quiet as she got herself mentally ready to head to SM. Minho brought the car to the basement, parking it in an available spot before taking her up the elevator, security scanning her and checking her bag before she was let in. She folded her arms over her chest, feeling a little underdressed around all the towering men in suits that were bringing her up the elevator.
"Is she a trainee?"
"She's so pretty!"
"She looks like she would've debuted in aespa"
"Wait that's not Karina?"
She saw the girls in the hallway who looked much younger to her bow in her direction and she bowed back, knowing they were the trainees and she was a mere dentistry student which left them confused. She hid behind her mask as much as she could, trying her best to not make eye contact with them
"Jihye should be in the practice room with 127" a guy said who she figured was probably one of their managers, eyeing her quickly and clearly being taken back to see a college student instead of an old nanny
"You can go in" the manager said, opening the door to a room where she could literally here Mark scream Yuta's name with an anime girl voice. She scoffed slightly, pointing to herself in disbelief that they were okay with her going in. The manager changed none of his facial expressions, indicating that he wasn't messing and she bowed, nervously taking slow steps into the room to reveal herself while 'Parade' played in the background on a lower volume. The door closed shut behind her making her shudder almost and one of the boys—men— turned to look at her.
"We're still using the practice room" Taeyong said, sternly at the intrusion while his attempts to fix the fact check choreo with Doyoung was interrupted.
"Oh uh..."
"Unnie!" Jihye's voice echoed around the mirrored walls, making her body instantly turn to her girl who wad running at her full speed, disregarding Jaehyun's shout for to not run.
"Hey Jihye" Kira said, stumbling back slightly as Jihye hugged her legs making her chuckle. The boys looked in amusement as they saw Jihye run towards the girl with the face of relief after seeing another girl who wasn't one of their managers for once.
"Guys that's-"
"THIS IS KIRA! SHE'S MY BEST FRIEND!" Jihye screamed, cutting Jaehyun off
"I thought we were best friends?!" Jungwoo shouted back as Kira remained frozen that this was all actually happening
"Are you going to play with us too?!" She asked excitedly and Kira squatted down to her height
"What are you playing?" She asked with the same level of enthusiasm, seeing Jaehyun approaching her from his previous position in the corner off the room
"Hyuckie oppa is making us do a handshake! Here I'll show you!" She said excitedly, grabbing Kira's hands
"Ah Jihye! That's our secret handshake!" Haechan said with a tinge of playful betrayal in his voice and Kira chuckled, standing up to her feet and ruffling Jihye's head before she looked at Jaehyun who stood in front of the two
"Hey Kira, thanks for coming all this way" Jaehyun said and she nodded bowing to him
"It's no bother" she said, awkwardly twiddling her thumbs
"Oh and meet the guys" Jaehyun said making her eyes widen as she wanted to disappear right this second as she looked too unbothered in her baggy jeans and sweatshirt.
"Guys this is Kira, Jihye's babysitter and...best friend apparently" He said with a chuckle and she nodded at them, seeing them all loosen up a bit to say hi and wave back
"Oh..I thought she was a trainee" Taeyong said with a cute chuckle, not being as stern anymore and she smiled trying to stop her voice from screaming 'neo got my back' in their faces
"I saw some trainees in the hall, they thought I was in aespa" she said with an awkward chuckle
"I wouldn't go that far now" Haechan muttered immediately making some of the guys glare at him while one or two laughed at his comment
"I'm sorry" she said, not knowing where her limit was with them
"He's just joking, you know how he can be...you're a fan after all" Jaehyun said with a slight smirk, crossing his arms over his check and she awkwardly scratched the back of her neck
"Yes but I swear—on my brother's life—that I'm not delulu or a sasaeng" she said, hurriedly shooting down any rumours
"Yeah you better not be" Johnny said with a shrug catching her attention
"The guy likes to file lawsuits" he added making her laugh along with Jaehyun
"So you're a fan?" Mark asked, taking any opportunity to talk to fans, yet he was slightly nervous, looking between her and Jaehyun to confirm that she wasn't a creep. His eyes showed signs of tiredness making her realise they had other things to be doing right now
"Yeah" she said timidly, rubbing her clammy paws against her jeans, getting the silent message that Jaehyun hasn't mentioned her before the boys and definitely didn't mention the groupchat mishap that happened two nights ago
"You can stay for a bit if you like?" Jaehyun suggested, seeing her awkward and standoffish vibe all of a sudden
"Uh..no its okay, you guys probably have to practice" she said, trying her best to read the room.
"I want to stay!" Jihye said whining a little to her dad and tugging at Kira's sweater to get her to change her mind
"Jihye, daddy needs to practice-"
"Just a bit longer!" She pleaded and he didn't have the heart to say no to his little girl, knowing he would be too busy with the Neocity-Unity tour next week
"Is it okay with you?" Jaehyun asked Kira and she hesitantly nodded, feeling like she had no other option, yet deep down she wasn't complaining, it was all just a bit much for her.
